STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Cold War

Started by General Zink45 pages

Deciding that a retreat is needed, Wraith thrusts a fist towards the iced-over ceiling of the chamber, targeting a few sizeable icicles with a kinetic nudge to break them loose so that they will fall on his attackers and provide a brief distraction.

Dak dodges backwards away from Gremon's attack. He flourishes his sabers into a white blur of motion, slashing suddenly out of it at the prince.

Dak will Dodge his Quick Attack, then do a Sword Whirl followed by a Strike.

And so we resume things!

Gremon lashes forwards with his knives... pumping himself up with Blow and relying on his expertise with knives from Strike of the Master, he slices across your chest as you Dodge. 9 damage!

But your response comes promptly. Performing a stylish flourish as you come at Gremon from the side, he just narrowly manages to pull himself away from your lightsaber with his own Dodge. Still, it simmers across his ribcage, inflicting 12 damage that he didn't have before.

Wraith exhibits a simple feat, breaking a sizeable ice formation with a Bash so that it drops down on the troopers. All five are crushed by the heavy shards of ice! You retreat into the tunnels, free from attack this turn...

Ker'Raos cuts down another two troopers. Defending, he remains evasive of gunfire this time around.

The Rebels miraculously keep clear of enemy gunfire, skipping and hopping their way over the Southern mid-platforms. This severely limits the firing capabilities of the Royal troops, whom will have to reorganize to storm downwards and strike from above...

The Rebel Leader shoots down three troopers.

Gremon is going to have another go at you, Dak.

What's the plan, Wraith?

Wraith is going to meet up with Ker'Raos in the tunnels, lightsaber tucked away and pistol drawn...

Defend his attack, then return the sentiment with a Strike.

Consider yourself reunited with Ker'Raos, Wraith, just as the frog cuts down three of his foes. The remaining soldier is unsure what to do as a second foe turns up. What now?

Gremon is a vicious fighter, Dak. He comes at you with a Combination, pirouetting toward you with knives outstretched. His first pass misses, but the second inflicts four damage as one of his knives cuts across your arm. Then, just as you Strike, he Ripostes, inflicting another three damage... but your lightsaber manages to cut across his own arm, leaving a nasty burn in its wake. 17 damage to the Prince!

The severed pump tears down the side of the mining pit and pulls out the eastern section of the middle platforms. It also raises the water levels so that the frigid water of the Arnian subterranean oceans are lapping at the middle platforms...

All Darkies are free to act!

Since this is taking forever, another Strike. Defend for defense.

Wraith, reacting with his honed reflexes, shoves his open palm forward and sends the remaining trooper sprawling against the wall with a solid Reaction Push. Once that is done, he places his lightsaber at his belt and draws his blaster once more.

"Kerry," Wraith says. "Got any ideas?"

Seems that Gremon has made you plenty pissed, Dak, as you lash out with your lightsabers with a 20 rolled. Another 17 damage is dealt as one of your lightsabers burns across his side, cutting through his regal clothing with ease and leaving it smouldering.

That trooper flips head over heels as you smash him away with the Force, Wraith.

"You tell me," Ker'Raos says. "Dak's out there with the army..."

Things seem to be turning in favor of the rebels, at this point. As the Royal soldiers attempt to position themselves to get down to the rebels, they are shot down before they can accomplish anything. 16 soldiers killed in this turn's onslaught... Gremon's army is diminishing.

Things seem to be looking up for the Rebels and their outside assistance...

Gremon and the Royal Troops are going to return some favors.

I am liking Strike!

I'll do it again. Defend for his attacks!

Wraith glances down the tunnel, toward the Royal soldiers.

"Well, then, I suppose we need to keep reducing that army," Wraith says. "From a distance preferably. We don't seem to be having much luck with our lightsabers..."

Wraith twirls his blaster into his hand.

An active dodge would be more suitable, Dak. Defend defends you from multiple opponents, but has a lower dodge rating.

Unleashing another fierce attack, Gremon performs another Combination, boosting it this time with Blow. But this time his efforts are wasted against your active dodge as you interpose your lightsabers, preventing him from getting close enough to strike. He backs off, performing a Parry as you Strike; he cannot rely on his knives to pose as large a threat as the lightsabers you wield, so his Parries must be more active than your own dodges. He twirls his knives and tries to slash at your lightsaber hilts, narrowly throwing off your attack.

The Rebels, confidently standing out in the open on the middle platforms, are caught by a few blasts, bringing down nine of them. Payback does not get them much, five soldiers down.

The Rebel Leader fires off two snapped attacks at the soldiers. With Carnival of Carnage, he claims three in the first snap and three in the second snap, for six kills total.

Pool refreshes for Dak; waiting on Wraith to act...

Wraith will follow the Rebel Leader's example, firing his pistol down the tunnel to blast down a few soldiers, with Ker'Raos hopefully doing the same.

Wraith, do you mean to snap those attacks?

Yes I do.

Okay then, Wraith. It must be said, this battle has taken its toll on you and your penalties are steep enough, with injuries and snapping, that you fire off your shots with a skill of 8, raised to 9 by Gunslinger.

9, 10, 1 on the first series of shots; a single kill as two of the dice go into one kill.

12, 13, 15 on the second series of shots; three kills! Four kills in all.

Ker'Raos follows your lead, snapping his own shots. Without wound penalties, he is significantly better than you are, having trained long and hard with his kinetic rifle back home. Between two snapped attacks, he brings down three troopers.

Pool refreshes for the others, now, and I want to hear Dak's defensive action against the next attack Gremon will make, while the soldiers fire this turn.

Just to make sure we don't get cheated of killing things, I think Dak can act right now, unless he feels like going defensive for a second and then unleashing hell a few times on Gremon.

Same for the Rebel Leader, whoever he is.

Dodge Gremon's attack. ermm

Gremon unleashes another Combination, his knives cutting lightly across your scales for two hits. He does not boost his Strength with the Force this time, leaving you with 9 damage. However, having gone on the defensive leaves you acting ahead of Gremon.

The Rebel Leader raises his pistol and nonchalantly snaps his attack, gunning down three of the Royal troops before they can fire. Things are looking dire for the Royal soldiers as they only manage to put down four of the rebels.

"Sire, we should retreat!" shouts one of the troopers near Gremon.

He does not respond; he is relishing the competition that has been sparked with Dak.

"You fight admirably, stranger," Gremon says, Dak. "But I can sense the hatred within you."

All are free to act...

Seeing as the Royal troops continue to dwindle, Wraith decides that the Rebels no longer need his help with that matter. He eyes the ongoing conflict between Dak and Gremon.

"Keep on the soldiers," Wraith orders his student in the Force. Advancing down the tunnel, he raises his blaster and opens fire on Gremon.

(Also, Rex, might wanna check my Gun Tricks. I've only got the first level in Carnival of Carnage and all the way with Gunslinger. Gimme my perks!)
