STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Cold War

"I will admit, you are taking far longer to destroy than I intended, Prince. But just how long do you expect to stave off my sabers? Submit. Accept the will of the Force."

Dak spins his sabers into a figure-eight blur and them slashes fiercely out of it.

Sword Whirl, followed by Strike.

Without lightsabers, Gremon must defend against each of your attacks individually. With one hand, he flicks his knife upwards towards your throat in a vicious Riposte, but with the other he performs a violent jerking motion to rip away Wraith's pistol with Reaction Pull.

The Riposte is foiled by Dak, whose Strike burns across the Prince's chest and sets his uniform to smoldering for a dead-on hit of 12 damage.

But members of the Royal Family are excellent telekineticists, so Wraith is unpleasantly surprised when his pistol is snatched from his hands and tossed a short distance away. He must now retrieve it.

Ker'Raos continues assaulting the Royal troops, sending four toppling down through the blast holes that the plasma drills made as his kinetic rifle bluntly smashes them with two snapped attacks.

The Rebel Leader lazily rolls three 10s in a row, followed up by his crew of Rebels with a massacre; heavily outnumbered the Royal troops quickly dwindle down to the last four soldiers.

"Retreat!" one of them calls out. "Into the tunnels!"

Gremon, realizing that his army has been defeated, is going to strike with disengaging the enemy in mind. Despite his prowess, he cannot fight the remainder of the Rebel forces on his own.

Dak will active Dodge Gremon's attack, then attempt to Trip him.

The hell I am! Wraith will reason that a Reaction Pull is an attack on him, so he can use a Reaction Pull of his own to get his pistol back and open fire!

The pistol flies through the air, but suddenly stops as you exert your will upon it. It reverses direction and flies back into your hand. Once again armed, you open fire on Gremon who does not defend. In doing so he underestimates you, Wraith; with Gunslinger you fire with a skill of 12 and pack a base damage of 15 on that heavy pistol. You hit with an Outcome of 4.

Gremon does not cry out when the blaster bolt drills into his thigh, but it leaves him with a wound penalty comprable to your own, Wraith.

Still, this does not stop him. Unfortunately for Dak, an active dodge cannot defend against Force Attacks. The injured Prince, forfeiting the glory of combat in favor of surviving this ordeal, performs a Fling. Swiping his knives towards you from a distance, Dak, you are caught off-guard when you are bodily sent flying through the air when he rolls a 16.

His telekinetic toss carries you off of the edge of the upper platform, striking the topmost section of the damaged water pump with a cracking sound that echoes throughout the chamber. You take 11 damage and a -1 penalty as you slip some ways down the pump before you find a secure handhold on some of the pipeworks for a frame.

The Rebel Leader orders his men to hold their fire, gazing curiously at Dak as he sails through the air. But Ker'Raos gives the Royal troopers no quarter; in two snapped attacks, he demolishes them.

Gremon is now faced by two angry Dark Jedi with guns...

Wraith watches Dak fly through the air and hit the piping of the gigantic pump, then glances sideways at Ker'Raos.

"Kill him," Wraith says, raising his pistol again to put a bolt through Gremon's forehead.

"Oh, you are so ****ing dead now!" Dak roars as he launches himself back as Gremon with a Master Jump. Fueled with rage, he slashes wildly at the Prince with a Strike.

Gremon has not drained himself yet. Tapping into his connection to the Force, he performs a Reaction Pull against you both. It must be damned hard for him to concentrate with that hole in his leg, but somehow he pulls it off. Wraith's blaster pistol sails off and Ker'Raos' kinetic rifle clatters to the ground.

Just before you leap, Dak, something violently rocks the pump. Not wanting to jump off and smack your head on the platform, you hold tight for a moment and look down. You see what is shaking the pump and you almost do not believe what you are seeing. As if out of Arnian mythology, a series of thickly-scaled tentacles have snaked up out of the water and wrapped themselves around the pump.

"The monsters the deep..." the Rebel Leader realizes. He shakes himself out of his awe-induced stupor and begins shouting for his men to retreat. They do not need him to say it a second time; they dash for the nearest stairs and ladders to reach the upper platforms.

Gremon is free to act as Wraith and Ker'Raos have been disarmed and the Rebels are in full retreat as the creature crawls its way up the pump...

Wraith will perform another Reaction Pull to get his pistol back.

Force Dodge if that bastard tries anything.

"By Tsa'Dis..." Dak takes a moment to recover from his shock.

...now can Dak Master Jump, to run the hell away for his very life?

On the way up, though, Dak remembers enough of his fury to try that intended Strike on Gremon once he's in range.

Using the last of his Force pool, Gremon tosses down his knives and Draws his pistol. He risks it all, performing a double shot to place two bolts against Wraith while moving for the tunnels. A 20 and a 16 see to it that both strike Wraith full in the chest, dealing 12 damage and bringing him to his first Death Check... which he just narrowly passes.

Wraith, your environmental suit has been breached, but it saved your life and you have your pistol back.

Ker'Raos does not waste time retrieving his kinetic rifle. Drawing his lightsaber, he moves to engage Gremon with a tremendous Flying Charge, leaping at the Prince with lightsaber outstretched. Gremon actively dodges the attack, sidestepping the Zeitonian's strike.

Dak Jumps off of the pump just as the tentacles begin to crush it, the pipes crunching and cracking as its enormous strength tries to crumple it and drag it down into the subterranean ocean. He lands on the edge of the upper platforms, three frames distant to Gremon and the others.

Force Pool refreshes.

Wraith tries once more to put a laser into Gremon, aiming to finish him off with one parting shot.

Force Dodge anything he comes at me with.

I. Want. To. Run. At. The. Bastard. And. Hit. Him. With. My. Laser. Blade. Of. Doom. Nice. And. Hard.

And Force Dodge whatever he might pull on me.

Adopting the same mentality as Wraith, Gremon blurs to one side with a Force Dodge as Wraith's parting shot fizzles past him. But Wraith is not so lucky. Instead of putting out a parting shot of his own, the Prince gestures towards you with his free hand. Using Master Throw, one of his knives is snapped up off the floor and twirls towards you. An 18 is a hit, for 9 damage. Wraith rolls his second Death Check at 93 damage... and fails.

The knife lands with a sickening thok! in your throat just above your collar bone, Wraith. Blood spills out of your environmental suit and you collapse to your knees. Having reached the upper platform and seen his men off into the tunnels, the Rebel Leader rushes to your aid.

Just before Dak reaches him, Gremon executes another Force Dodge as Ker'Raos attacks with a Flip, springing up and over the Prince with his lightsaber slashing downwards. The lightsaber cuts across his shoulder, for 12 damage and a Death Check, which he passes.

Dak comes at him with a roar of frustration, unleashing a primal slash as his Strike. Pinned between you and Ker'Raos, Gremon has become Force-Dodge-happy; he has the pool for it. You slash, but he sidesteps that attack of 9 and steps into Ker'Raos' striking range. The Zeitonian performs his own Strike, but again Gremon sidesteps his attack of 6 and brings himself back into your striking range, Dak...

You swing your lightsabers wildly, wearied and frustrated by the problems that this conflict has presented to you. This time, you finally get what you are after. You roll a 19 and the white blades draw deep lines across his chest. Gremon, eldest Prince of Arnia, collapses to the ground, releasing his pistol and clutching at his chest.

The final standings for the battle, just for your viewing pleasure.

Wraith lets his pistol fall as his hands shoot up to his throat, clutching at the bizarre Arnian knife that has embedded itself in his neck. He does not remove it for fear of letting his own blood flow freely, but tries to apply pressure to the area around the wound to keep himself from bleeding out.

When the Rebel Leader approaches, Wraith can only gurgle from behind the mask of his environmental suit.

Dak stands over Gremon, regarding him coldly. "...The will of the Force. I am sorry. You could have been a valuable ally. But in the end, you were too weak.

"You fought well, though, I will give you that. Perhaps Tsa'Dis will accept you."

"Perhaps, but she will not accept your villainy," Gremon responds, breathing heavily. "You may have defeated my army. You may have defeated me. But you will not bring low this magnificent world. Your ways are not of Arnia. An exile, then. Let me tell you, the Queen-Mother will not be defeated as I have been. You will see."

The Rebel Leader crouches over Wraith, examining the wound. Carefully but quickly, he removes the knife and applies pressure to the wound while unhooking the blood-flecked mask of his suit. He continues applying pressure as he pulls forth some medical field equipment from his belt.

"Oh boy, let's see what I can do for this..." the Rebel Leader sighs, ripping open a canister of bacta with his teeth.

"No, prince. I do not mean to bring low this world. I will elevate it to new heights. Arnia's old ways have preserved her, but only that. My order will bring her out into the Galaxy, a force to be reckoned with."

He watches the Rebel Leader work with Wraith for a moment. "As for the Queen-Mother... I hope she will submit, as you did not. But you are right: I shall see."

"What lizard do you think you are that you can raise Arnia beyond its already mighty status?" Gremon demands to know. "Tell me! None are greater than the Queen-Mother. And she will not submit."

"Mighty status? I have been out in the Galaxy, you fool. Arnia is ignored, except by those that need our water. Arnia is mighty, but she has little status beyond her own system. I will change that. I... Dak Kaliero. That is who is greater than the Queen-Mother."
