A Jedi senses someones intentions. Mace, when he FINALLY decided to kill Palpy, raised his saber, prepared for the killing blow, and Anakin, lightning fast, sliced off his arm. Anakin DID NOT plan on killing Mace...."What have I done?"....remember that line?

IF Anakin was planning on engaging Mace in combat, Mace would have sensed it and would have been ready for it. He would have defeated Anakin, Palpy would have been killed, Padme would have lived.

I'm sure Anakin didn't see it coming, he's already a Sith in a way, living off his lust and desires... impulsive and arrogant. But Mace... if he was so great... should have seen it coming. I saw it coming since TPM and for me there was only seven years between the two... Mace had about twelve years between TPM and ROTS.
