And in episode 1. Those battle droids. Obi 1 blocked off shots from bizarre angles many times. They did not plan those shots either!

first and foremost, Luke battling training droids have no place here, it never happened in the movies. moving on....
Yes, Obi Wan was aware that the droids had one specific thing in mind: KILL THE JEDI. by knowing this, he was able to concentrate on them and deflect their fire BECAUSE he knew that they were trying to kill him. By knowing this, he had no need to be aware of their consciousness, or lack thereof.
