STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunted

Eerin sits by, obviously not getting what Kyle is saying but deciding that using codenames is appropriate to their plight.

"[I wonder why that bounty hunter attacked you]," Eerin says.

The message is out! Someone is bound to hear it eventually and come looking for you.

But they won't today, you don't think. A sandstorm is just setting in, the wind howling over the Last Laugh and across the desert dunes, whipping up painful clouds of sand.

In addition to this, it is nearly night. Anyone traveling the desert at night is asking for trouble.

"Yeah, I've been wondering about that. She called me a smuggler, but have we really moved up the food chain far enough to warrant somone like her getting sent after us? We must be real important to someone." He grins a little, "I guess we'll just have to ask her the next time we see her."
Kyle yawns. It has been a long, trying, tiring day. "We better get some rest. You think we shoudl take turns keeping watch?"

"[I'll keep first watch]," Eerin volunteers. "[You've been through more than I have today.]"

Eerin will set up watch in the upper gun turret, so that he has a 360 degree view of the surroundings and a giant gun he can use if he needs to...

Kyle harumphed that statement, "I didn't have a piece of the ship sticking out of me a little while ago. But, that gunfight did take a lot out of me, I guess. Ok, but don't let me sleep too long. You need your rest too. Especially if trouble shows up, 'case you know it will." Kyle heads to his bunk. With his saftied blaster still in its holster, he lays down to sleep."

As Kyle dozes off, Eerin gets to watch the killer Tatooine sunset as the twin suns of the binary system dip towards the horizon, casting a purple-red hue to the sky. Even better, the sandstorm starts to subside as night falls.

All quiet on the Tatooine front, Eerin. The sensors are useless, but you don't see anything. Not even sand lice.

Kyle, you are having trouble sleeping. You keep hearing noises in the ship, though you're not sure what is causing them. Probably sand in the engines or something...

(I seriously doubt that.)

Kyle growls to himself in frustration. He hits the ship intercom. "Eerin, I keep hearing wierd little noises, do you mind checking it out. Thanks, Pal."

Eerin will check for odd noises in the ship from his turret, listening to the rest of the freighter.

All you can hear is the wind sweeping over the dunes and the ship, Eerin.

-

You can clearly hear footsteps outside the sleeping quarters, coming from boots clanking on your metal floors.

Sure of the noise now, Kyle quietly slips out of bed, blaster in hand. Moving carefully, he positions himself away from the door so that he is not the first thing seen in the room. He does not alert Eerin yet, so that he does not alert his foe. He waits...

Are you approaching the door or staying clear from it?

(Definitely staying clear. I'm going for a clear shot but I don't want to be directly in front of the door. That way I'm not the first thing someone entering sees or I won't be likely to get hit by random shots straight through the door.)

Hearing no further messages from Kyle, Eerin will keep his eyes trained on the surroundings. Anything notable around here?

The clanking boots stop just before you door, casting a slender shadow through the doorway. It stands still for a moment, before you see the heavy blaster pistol raised through the doorway.

Bang! A single blaster bolt fries your comm unit in the sleeping quarters, cutting off your communication with the rest of the ship, should you stay here.

-

If there was ever anything notable in these parts, Eerin, they've been buried under the dunes. If you knew anything about Tatooine's geography, you might be able to suss what geographical area you are in, but not your exact location.

In any case, you do notice something. There is a dim light blinking on the hull...

(Would Eerin have not heard the Bang!? Anyway, at this point, Kyle will react.)

As soon as the blaster releases it's bolt, Kyle returns fire. Aiming directly at the pistol itself, Kyle fires twice quickly, hoping to catch either the blaster or the hand with his shots.

Does Eerin recognize what the light is coming from?

You definitely hear a gunshot, Eerin. It sounds like Kyle's pistol!

-

Whomever you just fired at pulls back their hand rather quickly, Kyle. Your shots burst against the wall outside the sleeping quarters.

"I don't know who you are or why you're in my ship but the next thing that gets stuck through my doorway gets burned off!" Kyle shouts angrily, keeping his blaster trained on the doorway.

It is silent for a moment... and then a beeping noise as something is activated. A CryoBan stick grenade comes sailing through the doorway, clanging on the floor.

Uhoh.

(Any chance to grab it and throw it back? Or is there cover in the room? Third choice is to dash out the doorway, gun blazing.)
