STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Trials

Started by Captain REX59 pages

You charge onto the stairs, ready to engage the pirates! The big muscular bald guy waving the laser sword certainly gets their attention, especially as you cut one down. Fourteen pirates take aim on you.

The slaves take on the pirates that are moving down the stairs, blasting several down before they reach you.

Armored turrets prove to be quite a problem for the heavies, despite their powerful hardware. One of the turrets is blown right out, but the rest endure.

A second Taskmaster has arrived with reinforcements and pirates sporting grenade launchers...

Xavier wants Hoondan and Prassk to target the turrets. Heavies to attack the Pirate Heavies. He also wants Trax to attack them.

Xavier will snap an attack on a pirate.

Defend for Defense.

Indistinguishable from the rest of the slaves, your heavies send a volley of concussive blasts up the stairs. Only one manages to do any damage, the rest hitting the stairs themselves. But he takes out a launcher pirate and three others.

Slavers and slaves exchange fire! The pirates win iniative, and with the turrets and grenade launchers going for them, they clear away fully forty-five slaves in a series of intense blasts. But this only serves to rally the slaves, infuriating them as their comrades die beside them! Fifty-six pirates fall to their vengeful blasts.

The pirate you cut into is the only one left standing on the stairway and there is barely anyone left to even fire at you! Yikes. This has become an immense bloodbath, Xavier. You could not have predicted this...

This Taskmaster seems more capable than the last, Xavier. He breaks through your Defend with a 20, dealing 7 damage to you.

Corrected an error in your damage, Xavier.

Xavier will retreat from the stairwell for now and get his forces reorganized.

He will also use Master Saber Throw on the three remaining turrets.

No need. With Hoondan's armor-piercing rounds, Prassk's quadruple shots, and Trax's picking on the weaker turret, the turrets are taken out. Saves you the effort, of course!

Cowards as they are, the pirates abandon their cover and vanish beyond the staircase, into the crew quarters. They provide a few parting shots to cover their escape, but nobody gets hurt.

"Now what?" Trax asks.

Xavier looks around at the bodies littered around. He has caused there death but he is unmoved by them. He wonders whether or not he has chosen the right path. Yet there is no turning back. He must move forward.

"Is this now our only path to reach our destination? Then we must press on, unless you can suggest a different way."

If none is given Xavier will begin to march up the steps he wants Prassk, Hoondan, and Trax to follow right behind him. He wants to also have the people carrying the shields right behind them prepared to activate them to give his troops cover.

The shields will be difficult to deploy effectively in the thin corridors of the crew quarters. Unless you want to seal yourself into one of the corridors, of course, which is unlikely because then you would have to worry about the gunfire bouncing back behind you...

No alternative is given, so you press onwards and upwards, ascending to Level B. Dozens of corpses lay burning amongst a smaller collection of crates, their weapons scattered. The slaves can only advance fifty at a time, so you must be patient as you come into the area.

"The crew quarters are divided into three corridors," Trax indicates, gesturing beyond the staircase. "We'll have to blow our way through them. My only suggestion is to keep those slaves carrying the shields and heavy equipment to the back, clear the way for them to pass through. What do you advise?"

The corridors onwards are wide enough for five men to advance at a time.

There is also a single corridor behind you that seems familiar...

Xavier tells his men to stay on guard. He will then examine the corridor behind him more closely.

"Be quick about it," Trax comments, looking concerned. "If something happens, I'm getting the slaves out of here. That hatch there, on the right? That leads to the hangars. We'll take them and get to Coruscant, with or without you. I mean no disrespect, but our freedom is worth more to us than your life, though our freedom is made possible through you. Just... be careful, okay?"

"Set up what defense you can I will be back," Xavier says.

With that he goes to explore the chamber approaching it.

The corridor is, actually, the one you were summoned to when you had your little meeting with Friste Tem. It is dark, as you remember it. You do not sense any sentient beings nearby (other than the slaves), but that could be misleading.

Xavier will activate his lightsaber hoping to use it to illuminate some of the room.

It does very little. For some reason, lightsabers have never been great for lighting purposes.

The doorway into Friste's room is on the left. At the far end of the corridor you can see the lifts. Another door is on the right.

Xavier will go into the door on the right.

You open the door to find...

...

...

...

...absolutely nothing.

Xavier will then turn and go into Friste's room.

It is as it was when you left it, Xavier. Minus Friste, of course. The gas giant of Varlouc hangs in the distance outside the transparisteel viewport.

There is also a new beeping sound.

Xavier looks to see where the beeping is coming from

It is coming from the trip mine that you just walked through, in the doorway.

Xavier will jump out of the way from the explosion!
