Though gone from us, their legacy lives on. Drink up, brothers, and know that the noble fight was fought.

Ah, the good old days.
😄
But I will admit that LP's character had a good shot at winning .... if he had chosen to use any powers beyond Strange's magic.

He should have. But no one knew anything about them, and judges traditionally fear the unknown. There's more general knowledge now, so obscure picks are safer than they once were, but I feel like Khell had the best team in at least 2 tourneys that he entered. His finals loss to Scoobless was lopsided due to the people he had, but no one had ever heard of them and it was in the pre-scans era. So going was tough for an indy comic fan.
To be fair, in the "pre-scan ages" Khell did draft people into power classes where they had no business being in the first place:
Midnighter in the street (or "no powers" category)
Sparks and Hawksmoor in the Spider-Man level
Grail, again, in the Spider-Man level
Not only that but he completely overhyped Majestic by saying that Superman and Black Adam weren't on the same power level as him by quite a wide margin.

True true. Khell was kinda guilty of the same thing in that tourney with Majestic. I can't even remember who else he picked.

In the "Awards Lists" Khell has a distinction or two for having some obscenely powerful picks for their categories. So yeah, it gets mentioned.

As I read through comments in the Majestic/Gladiator fight in the vs. forum, something occurred to me. I couldn't bring myself to say anything other than "Majestic wins" though I'm relatively familiar with both. And one of the justifications that popped into my head was "well, Majestros is up like 3-1 on him in tourney drafts."
Taken alone, it's not a legit defense of my opinion. But think about how we draft: tourneys anymore are intensely feat-driven, so those who bring the most to the table feat-wise tend to rise to the top of drafts. It doesn't always hold true, and sometimes someone with a lot of feats is avoided for various weaknesses (Superman, for example, who has ridiculous feats but is considered nigh-poisonous in tourneys). But it's a decent gauge of who has displayed the most power and versatility at a certain level.
So in my earlier example, I think it holds true. Majestic has more good showings, or at least less bad showings and a fair number of good ones. It's not a fluke he's been in a tourney final and Glads hasn't. It's also not a fluke that, say, Surfer is perhaps the most dominant tourney character in history. Not only does he define his level (high herald) but he's at the top of it.
Maybe I'm ignoring the characters that don't hold true to this, and only thinking of the ones that do, but there's others that hold true to this general maxim. Thor: consistently thought to be just under Surfer. He has 1 tourney win, a couple finals appearances...clearly near the class of his division in good showings, lack of bad showings, and versatility. But not as much as Surfer. Iron Man: perrenial bridesmaid in tourneys, which matches his status. Defines his level, but isn't the "be all end all" of it.
Anyone else's tourney success (or lack thereof) reflect their status in vs. battles or within their respective tiers?

😂 wow. I don't think I ever saw that. Of course, if it was her 2nd, then it was likely still in the pre-scans era. People could get away with a LOT just based on speculation and hype. You'd occasionally see such lopsided victories, though apparently it never happened for Trick.
Yeah ... no, wait .... what are you trying to say?
😕

Oh, that tourney. Yeah, I didn't pay too much attention to it at the time. Just kind of shook my head in sadness and wished the other poor souls involved good luck against Scoob, whose victory was never really in doubt for that tourney. Not so much with his characters (his powerhouse was Quasar, right Scoob?) but more in debating prowess and creativity in strategies.

No this was definitely post-scans, it was happening during Batdude's tourney.
Just checked the list of entrants in that tourney. I hope I didn't offend you by saying Scoob's victory was never in doubt. Like I said, I only paid passing attention to it, and that's just the impression I got from it (and from my occasionally convos with Scoob, which always seem to increase around tourney time). But you've always been a solid tourney competitor, so I didn't want you to think my last comment was downplaying your abilities.
Personally, Spawn's....worrisome. So I look forward to seeing you and id fight someone else first, because I didn't want you guys first.

No no, my debating skills sucked at the time. Remember this is around the same time that I gave up without a fight in batdude's tourney because I realized my skills were shit and because I couldn't talk to my partner at all. i only really became a solid competitor in the iron-man tourney where I had the Warmachine/Emma/Abomination amalgam.
Right....if you can make an impact with those losers, you know your debating chops are pretty decent.
😉
If I were KFish, I'd be hyper-ironic and find a bunch of usable quotes of yours about WM and Abom to use against you in his match with you. That would be hilarious if he managed to get you debating yourself.
😂
