Superman, in contrast, has a lot more abilities that have zero explanation than Hulk.

Ok, so he needs the Sun to be strong. Fine, although it's hard to explain how the Sun makes him strong enough to move planets (Not that you'd have to, because I realise it's a comic).

Hulk is tame in contrast to a lot of other characters' developments in history. They've only really done things with his strength, they haven't given him the ability to fly or warp time, here. Let's be fair about who we pick out.

That said, simple answer? Hulk just has haters, man. That's what it is, usually. People hate that the character has evolved, fairly, and is stronger than their favourite person (Hulk isn't actually my favourite).

That generally hasn't happened with Hulk, and when it has, I have been hard-pressed to find someone who didn't agree it was shit writing.

Hulk was on another planet because he got blasted into exile.

Superman's powers are just as irrational and bizarre as Hulk's powers, both are part of the territory - "it's comics" - and neither are worth the time nitpicking over. whatever axe you've got to grind, you won't get anywhere wasting your time with me over this.

Ah, the Hulk....finally a movie that does him justice. I'll be really glad to see this movie on opening day. It has the perfect cast and they look as if they're going to be used to their full potential. In the 2003 movie, they had a good cast but their acting was stale (bad material, I guess). The design for the Hulk is also much better and he's much more of a beast.

I'm a bit on the fence about this movie, but I'm more interested after reading this

What follows is a detailed description of the footage screened. While we avoid discussing particular plot points, this could be considered SPOILERISH to those who like going into their movies fresh. So read at your own risk…

"This is the two and a half minute intro to the movie that sets the stage," explains Feige of the first sequence screened. "For a long time people have been asking, 'Is it a sequel? Is it a reboot?' And in these two and a half minutes, the idea is that everybody will have everything they need to know. There was a lab, there was a love, there was an experiment, there was an accident, there was a man hunt, and now… the movie starts."

After the familiar animated Universal Pictures and Marvel Studios logos flash across the screen, the film's opening credit sequence begins. Quick cuts of what look like gamma-irradiated cells (green in color) and human body X-rays combine with cast and crew title cards. The real "meat" of this sequence, however, comes in the form of an origin story. In one of several fanboy "tip of the hat" moments, Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) is seen sitting in a hi-tech lab chair conducting a strength enhancing experiment. The close-up on his face as the gamma emitter's targeting system lines its crosshairs across his forehead screams TV era Bill Bixby! Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) watches through a glass window, concern in her eyes.

Obviously, the experiment goes horribly awry, as the next shot is of a destroyed lab. The Hulk's giant green hand can be seen knocking over instruments and then… Banner's worst nightmare. Betty lies on the ground bloody and unconscious, a victim of the Green Goliath's rampage. In runs General "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt), who is quickly pummeled by the creature. He lies over his daughter's body in an effort to protect her — that same giant green hand reaching down at him before the scene abruptly ends.

Banner now sits by Betty's hospital bed, holding her hand. She appears to be in a coma, and he is visibly wracked with guilt. The next shot is of Banner and General Ross, whose arm is in a sling, getting into a heated argument. It seems the military man: a) is upset with the failed experiment, in which he must've played a part — at least, that's the implication; b) does not want Banner anywhere near his daughter. With that, the gamma-stricken scientist flees the hospital and goes on the run.

The chase is now on as General Ross commits his vast military resources to capturing Banner/the Hulk. Quick cuts of newspaper clippings (with headlines like "Green Bigfoot Spotted"😉, computer screens ("Five months since last sighting"😉, departmental memos ("From the office of Nick Fury"😉, and rolling military equipment (carting Stark Industries weapons) interact with close-ups of an angry general and his grieving daughter (sad because Banner is out of her life, perhaps?). The entire opening credits sequence ends with Banner jolting up from bed, as if all of the aforementioned imagery were part of his bad nightmare, and grabbing a metronome — a devise used to create a consistent, monotonous sound.

The CGI is good to me (not as good as the first Hulk movie) but I like it, the look of the Hulk is certainly more scary and looks a lot better. Not too human, and not too monstrous either. I'm sure that Marvel has learned from the mistakes of the first movie and has made this movie as good as possible. This is gonna be the Hulk franchise we've always wanted. 💃

Watched it last night, liked it a lot. Much better than the Ang Lee. Norton was a better Banner, Hulk looked and "acted" better too. Definately worth watching.

The Tony Stark scene is at the end, you don't have to sit through the credits for it.

I thought Tim Roth had all the acting ability of dry wall in his first scenes, but he definitely found his feet as time went on. I wasn't happy with Betty Ross, but she wasn't horrifying, and had her good moments. I preferred Jennifer Connelly. To this day, other than Jennifer Connelly, Gwyneth Paltrow is the only actress playing a Marvel character that I've been able to stand.

Norton was almost as good as Banner as Downey Jr was for Stark. Downey Jr did have real life Stark experience going in, though. A rich, boistrous, flamboyant playboy...playing the same thing. William Hurt nailed General Ross, can't decide if I liked Elliot's Ross better, but it was as good at least.

Nice touches to have Dr. Leonard Samson (Doc Samson) in it, even though he was unnamed (And they apparently cut out the scenes between him and Banner talking about psychiatry as seen in the trailers). I don't know if they should have him in it as Doc Samson for movies to come, because they might end up with too many characters, and we saw what that did to X-Men and Spider-Man 3. I'm happy with

The Leader as the villain for the next one. Very nice set-up and it'll be very believable that Sam Sterns holds a grudge against Banner for his mutation

Besides that, it was a much better movie and I think it's probably my fav Marvel flick behind Iron Man.

It was very exciting, quite funny and continuing a cool new Marvel trend it seems; no overflooded romance.

Hurt was a far better Ross, I always felt Elliot was trying too hard for the role.

I didn't care much for Liz, she didn't do a horrible job, but Connolly was better. Did you notice Liz's botched lip-job? Way too much botox, it kept drawing my eyes to her mouth.

Yeah, the scene in the trailer where Banner and Samson are talking about psychobable was cut. I thought Samson was a scientist not a shrink in the comics?

Doc Samson is sometimes involved in science just because he's such a genius, but he's primarily a psychiatrist, hence why he's so useful around Banner. He has strength to at least bother the Hulk more than others would, if he goes crazy, and at the same time he's a trusted friend who understands a lot of Banner's/Hulk's mind.

Regarding the other guy, teah, it's not someone you think of being a main nemesis of Hulk. Although, he's not really an Abomination kind of villain, someone who fights Hulk. He's more like...Hulk exists, I want the power, kind of thing. It works. It's like the Superman/Lex Luthor relationship, except much more threatening.

I think Tim Blake Nelson is going to have arguably the best Marvel adaptation role ever in that, because he had that great combination of childish excitement, curiousity and eccentricity about him already, as well as genius and cowardice. That's something that

I Thought that this movie was definitely an improvement on the ever growing quality of Marvel Movies.

As for a more entertaining movie, I think that Iron Man was better, but the action sequences in Hulk were definitely better.

What I really liked about this movie was that it gave hulk fans things they wanted to see but wouldn't think of asking for. Like the atomic clap! And boxing gloves made from a car. That was pretty cool that they whipped it out. I liked the allusion to Captain America in there, and I think they made the Hulk himself look much better than Ang Lee's, and portrayed his strength extremely well.

I was just reading that there were 70 minutes cut from this movie, which will appear on the DVD.

One scene involves Banner retreating to the Arctic Circle after deciding to kill himself, and it has been alleged that he meets Captain America. This has been refuted and confirmed by various people involved, though. We'll have to see.
