Its all canon. I agree though that the writers of dcu didnt handle it all too well basically because of countdown and how screwy it all was.

But these weren't the new new gods, they were the old new gods.

And I'd expect (after they sought out the mess) that DS, Yuga Khan etc will be different, we can't expect the same people otherwise what was the point of pushing for the close of Kirby's saga?

I would like to see Yuga Khan come back. There is a pic of Darkseid in the final crisis section of the comic book forums. He looked cooler before imo. He looks like Saurod from the masters of the universe movie with dolph lungren.

Yeah full of PIS. The Lord of Apokalips is not supposed to be defeated in that manner. And I'm talking about the better more recent DS showings which had him attain power that made the Source itself tremble and Superman awed at how helpless he was against what he witnessed. That's Kirby's Darkseid, that's recent material.

You might as well have super imposed post crisis Mongul in that scan, because even DS' words were so out of character. A guy who is fueled by agony, strife, depression, rage etc an abstract being who has brought entire pantheons to heel, do you honestly believe that's DS in character?

At his usual power levels he can psychically manipulate 3 million Daxamites. Depower the nigh physically unstoppable Validus. Completely own Orion. Project energies in seconds that exceed what the galaxy sized Apokalips expends in a year. The guy is a monster.

WWH certainly eventually overcomes Darkseid in a purely physical fight in most encounters. Darkseid is no slouch, but being limited into the Hulk's one dimensional style he can and will go down. [Assuming Darkseid in his classic form, since we really don't know much of his current depiction.]
