Did they win, yeppers, but you can't really say US was the better team.

And going back to that Colts/Dolphins game MNF game earlier this year, the game where Miami dominated with 45 minutes of Time of Possession yet the Colts won with splash plays, you can't say Indianapolis was the better team, either.

Yes, bottom line is Canada has more talent and probably would win 4 out of 5 meetings with the USA. They also have prettier uniforms. Guess what? All of those intangibles mean jackshit unless you win.

So to all those teams in any sport who think they "should" win, how about beating somebody for a change and then run your mouth.

In all sports, we constantly hear about one team's high expectations that they have failed to achieve. I want and feel I should be a millionaire but I'm not. Does anyone care to listen to my laundry-list of excuses? No, they don't.

Where was the excuses?

Or saying that Canada has more talent?

All was said was that Canada should of won. They didn't. The case is closed.

If you want to get on your soapbox and preach about expectations and how Canada has the better team, go right ahead but from what I saw, Canada outplayed them by far but unfortunately they didn't win. Miller played one of the best games (shades of Mike Richter in the World Cup in the 90's) and Broduer was god awful.

Hockey is different than football. A QB could of have the game of his life but if his line, WR or the defense play like shit, he won't win the game. On the other hand, a goalie can have the game of his life and no matter how crappy the rest of the team, they have an extremely good chance of winning. It happens all the time. Or vice versa, a team can play brilliantly, but if the goalie can't stop the puck, they don't have a chance.

It happens all the time in hockey playoffs.

Fair enough.

I think the crucial play of the game was when Brodeur took a ridiculous baseball swing at the puck when it was 1-1, sending it straight to a pocket where no Canada team member was expecting it to go. The puck was promptly returned to him, just behind him, only seconds later.

That was brutal. Why in the world would he do that?

Or how about the dive for the 4th goal? That was equally as brutal.

What is more interesting about Miller performance was that he never stood on his head to make crazy plays. He was always in correct position for pretty much every shot.

Well Russia played like crap tonight. Disappointing, wasn't even a good game. Total blowout.

Yeah, I'm surprised.

Then again, Canada dominated every aspect of that game.

They did. I was just hoping for and expecting a close, hard fought and entertaining game.

I heard the US-Canada game went into overtime, then sat down to watch. 20 seconds later, Canada wins.

🙁

The game was absolutely amazing. One of the best game's I've ever seen.

congrats to Canada for the gold medal and congrats to Sid for scoring the game winner 😊

Spectacular and thrilling game....Congrats to Canada.

Damn. Oh well, nobody expected us to win anyway because "Canada dominated every aspect of the first game" and would easily "win 4 out of 5 from USA."

It's been fun busting people's ass with the USA team online in NHL 10 though, especially when they use Canada.

I think the Gold medal should be best of 3 though, because it doesn't seem right that we can beat Canada and be undefeated the whole time and they can just come a week later and beat us once and win it all.

It's unrealistic to do that for the Olympics.

I would agree but I don't see how it's unfair. They got the easiest route to the finals.

Yeah I know. I didn't say it was unfair, just that it doesn't seem right.

Ahh, sorry

I see it as that all teams are playing by the same rules and unfortunately its not the best (best of 7 would be ideal), all teams follow them.

Sweden was in the same boast as the States.

Anyways, great game by both teams. I'm surprised US didn't win because I was positive they would score in OT. It happens most of the time but it seems the 4 on 4 played to Canada's advantage because it plays to the team with the most skilled players and Canada has a few more. Five on five allows the more scrappy players to excel so going 4 on 4 was wierd.

I don't understand why the OT is 5 on 5 period, not sudden death and then if the game is still tied, shootout.

I echo ACDC Chick's sentiments almost word for word. Congrats to Canada and especially Sid for the game-winner.

Right after he scored, i thought 3 things:
1) Aw, sh!t
2) Boy, am I glad it was Sid and nobody else that got the GW
3) Keep coming with the "Crosby Sucks" chants, Cap and Flyer fans, because if you truly mean what you say, then the players you root for really, really, really, really blow.

Well Ive never watched an ice hockey game before never really interested me, but lasts night´s game was one of the exciting things Ive ever seen and I wasn´t rooting for any team, hard to imagine what a Canadian or Yank must have gone through.

Amazing stuff, these players must have been born on ice to skat like that.

The problem now is how am I going to enjoy football (soccer) again after seeing that?

I keep on forgetting your a Pitt fan.

No word of a lie my brother said, "Crosby prove me wrong", just before the goal was scored. He was ecstatic but he knew we're going to be hearing Crosby blowjobs for the next 5 years.

It was a perfect ending to a great tournament. That OT goal had both fan bases screaming, which you wouldn't have if the States didn't score in the last 20 seconds.

But really, who thought the Parise goal was not going to happen?

I just hope this game generated more interest for the sport in the states. More fans = good, no matter what team you were rooting for.
