I feel, because of NJO Luke's obvious enlightenment, the "erasing technique" wouldn't work on Luke. The erasing technique is similar to Smith's assimilation technique and Neo can resist that.
I would put Luke's mind significantly further than Neo's. Part of the Matrix "The One" is having a unique mind. It shouldn't be out of Luke's hands to quickly learn how to control the Matrix the same as Neo. Luke demonstrated on multiple occasions relative mastery of advanced techniques that take years to master.
There is also the part about Luke where he can hear thoughts and rip memories. It wouldn't/shouldn't be difficult for Luke to hear what Neo is thinking.
Neo is a mathematical probability as far as "The One" goes. He has a unique mind among the people of Zion and was a calculation among the almost cold agreement between the Oracle and the Architect. To say that Luke wouldn't be able to "figure out" what Neo has would probably be wrong, considering Luke's track record.
