i liked the first one, tbh. dunno why people think it was a bad movie, aside from the alien and predator fans.

EDIT- a little surprised james cameron thought it was a good movie though. ermm

but he also said they totally f'cked up the franchise with the avp movies.

yeah...interesting contradiction lol.

"the AvP movies destroy the franchise. however i really liked alien vs. predator a lot"

Reviews are looking great and this makes a clean wipe of the AVP mess.

I hated it... because it was an awful movie.
As a film; well, yes, it's awful. But being a Predator fan it was by far the most badass and fitting potrayal of the species onscreen. There was plenty of gore, blood, cool gadgets, acid, etc. So for it was well worth it. I wasn't expecting a great story and am not expecting one for this film: Predators. I just hope for great action scenes, blood, gore, suspense, and a wonderful depiction of the creature. Give me that and I'll be happy. I'm not expecting District 9 and anyone who is gonna be dissapointed methinks.

ITA

I'm interested in seeing how the Brody/Rodriguez combo works. Just watched an interview on FEARnet with Rodriguez and he seems to have it together.. I guess only time will tell...

Hope they go back to avp later on and do a better job of it.

I think Predator (1987) was the most badass portrayal of the species personally. I remember there being some cool action/gadget/gore sequences in AVP:R, but other than that, there was literally nothing keeping that movie together. The script/actors gave the impression of a shitty soap opera, the lighting was freaking terrible - that whole movie was way too dark, made it tough to see what was going on most of the time. The plot was non-existent, etc. Really, the cool sequences are just outnumbered by the shit in that movie.

Anyway, Predators (2010) is already getting way better reviews than either of the AVP movies and ole Nimrod seems to be a much better director than whoever helmed that other shit, so color me excited.

I don't care what any of you shmucks say. I liked Predator 2 way more than the original.

edit- An intresting fun fact, the original Predator got shit reviws when it came out (though not worse then the sequal).

He cloaked himself almost the entire time and heavily relied on his plasma caster.

🍺 I'm thinking of seeing this next weekend

Saw it. Didn't think it was that good. I liked the first half of it. The second half is where I felt uneasy with the picture.

Pros
*All of the human characters were good(except for Fishburne). Especially Brody, he's exceptionally good.
*The film looks great.
*They didn't hold back with the beheadings, skinned bodies, etc.
*The

Spoiler:
"real" Yautja
looked great.
*The run time is fine.
*They managed to replicate a near exact score from the first film.
*The jungle's setting brings back elements from the original.

Cons
*They really didn't do the Yautja any justice here.

Spoiler:
The honor code has been stripped apparently. They kill unarmed combatants with plasma casters, and kill people who have surrendered. I'm not sure if that was the way of the "radical" Yautja but.....

*
Spoiler:
The Yautja were incompotent, weak, slow, and rather.......stupid. They are killed by human way too easily.
I was just groaning when this happened, and it happened multiple times.
*There are no great action sequences in this film. This was a major letdown. Initially, I was led to belive by various reviews that the first half of the film would be horror. The last half would be all-out action.
*The film isn't all that scary.

Say what you want about AVP R. That film nailed the Yautja creature in Wolf. Best onscreen potrayal so far.

This film could have been really good. The story is okay. The characters are interesting and entertaining. What's a letdown here are suprisingly: the Predators.

1.Predator/Predator 2
2.Predator 2/Predator
3.Predators
4.AVP R
5.AVP

Predators is a better film than AVP R. The actual Yautja creature was handled FAR better in AVP R however.

I think I liked Terminator Salvation better overall. Predators wasn't a terrible picture. Being a fan of the said species, I'm just dissapointed.

I suppose you could say that Predators is 2010's equivalent of Hancock. I enjoyed the first half of Hancock. The second part is where it fell apart. It's better than G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Transformers: ROTF though. No wear near the greatness that was District 9 unfortunately.

that's what the Predators do though. 😕

You just lost all of my respect 🙁

prredators' recieived some good reviews. rogert ebert liked it but said the only element it lacked was the "quiet suspense" the original had.

I've been waiting to see this movie since it was mentioned. it'll be the first time this year since avatar that i'm going to the movies. I used to go all the time but it's like now most movies aren't really worth the time and money. this one seems like a good waste of time cause it well the predator and just the predator. and on the predator planet. and predator warrior culture always fascinated me..

there's the nostalgia factor, as well. like I hear the movie takes a lot fron 1 and 2 as a nod.

Just got back from Predators, and it is badass. Any fan of the original should enjoy this. Looking at the Alien and Predator series, this is my ranking:

1. Aliens
2. Predator
3. Alien

4. Predators

5. Alien: Ressurection
6. Alien 3

7. Predator 2
8. AVP: R
9. AVP

Not bad, not bad. Predator 2 being under Alien Resurrection is unforgivable though.

You hear me!? I will never forgive you!

Just saw it, it was good the story and score is almost done exactly done like Predator. The disappointments are what Darth Martin has just said....

But over all its way better then either AVP film. This is right behind Predator 2, so 3rd best.

But the movie is fun action and a decent story from the start. Its just that the Preds are not true to the character so far.

8/10
