You know why Superman is holding Mjolnir in his hand?
Because Thor was blocked by from Amazo, a giant robot which I dont' remember the name and other 3 villains, and one of them was attacking Thor with mental blasts, so he throw the hammer at Supes cause he was the only one not busy into fighting the "soldiers" of Krona, letting him destroying the last defensive wall of Krona's Fortress.
Back in topic, I read the replies of users registered in March 2005, full of assumptions like Thor has magic, Thor wins, Thor is a god, Thor wins, it seems the conversation between two 4years old kids.
Facts are the sequent:
Superman
High Rank Class 100 Strenght:
granted from his solar absorbtion powers.
High Rank Invulnerability:
thanks to his Skin-Like Force Field and a far denser physical structure than those of humans.
Superhuman Speed and Reflexes:
His speed without flying still put him into the top list of the fastest guys in the comicdom, and his reflexes are so outstanding that it takes a sufficiently fast guy to hit him or surprise him, or at least, a really bad written story like the fight with Venom.
Flight:
His flight speed is higher than his running speed, he can achieve at least 5/10% of the lightspeed, he has cover outstanding distances in few minutes, and traveled through space with ease, he's also an expert aerial combatant and acrobat.
Energy Projection
Supes Heat Vision is a form or Pyrokinesis, and it can reach temeperatures even above 12'000 F°, also it hits the target with concussive force.HV travel at a speed equal to that of light or nearly that level
Thor
High Rank Class 100 Strenght:
granted from his Asgardian Physiology plus being the son of Odin, one of the greatest Skyfathers and Gea, the being that is the ebsence of the planet Earth, make him the most powerful Asgardian except for his father.
High Rank Invulnerability:
as sayed above, his physiology grants him a high level of invulnerability, immunity to all diseases, toxins, radiations, heat, cold, etc.
Superhuman Speed and Reflexes:
Thor's feats of Superspeed are rarely showed, so most of people thinks he's a brick guy, that will look to Supes like someone moving in slow motion.
But you just need to recover some issues where he fights against guys like Nefaria, Radioactive Man, Living Laser, Graviton, etc. to see that he's fast.He has dodged and blocked attacks that most of "normal" heroes can't.His running speed is faster than Caber, a Celtic god that can achieve sonic speeds.
Thor's speed is commonly unknown cause he's showed almost using only his hammer and his fists.
Flight
Through throwing Mjolnir and grabbing his thong, he can achieve amazing flight speed, he even surpass starships flying at lightspeeds.
He can also hover in mid air through spinning the hammer, but he's showed hovering even when he just grab Mjolnir in mid air.
Energy Projection
Mjolnir can fire bolts of magicl force of high destructive potential, plus it can be used to channel Thor's greatest ranged attack, the GodForce, that is powered by Thor's life force.
Mjolnir can also fire Magical lightning, or being used tu summon storms and control the weather elements.
Now, I see two opponents that are practically equal.
The fight during Avengers VS JLA, was very cool, but also bad written.Thor would never let Supes hitting him with HV while charging at him like a raging bull, he practically always uses Mjolnir to parry ranged attacks.If they didn't let Thor acting that dumb, the fight would last for almost other 2/3 pages, where they'll show only Thor and Supes fighting while the other heroes, surprised of a fight that was destroying the jungle around themselves, will watch at their strongest teammates fighting.Now that would be a fight.
Crossovers in the past have showed characters like Superboy being beaten by Spider-Man, Lobo being killed from Wolverine, and crap things like that.
When the writers put two great chars like Supes and Thor one against the other, would be better if they decide the winner not using the number of fanboys, but using some logic and fantasy.
Anyway I'm a great Thor fan, but considering who Supes is, it would take GodForce or anyway all of Thor's abilities to beat down him.Not only a couple of pages.
