Thor has Matter Manipulation, energy absorption/projection, the ability to block any incoming attack r make himself completely invulnerable :/
He could just drain Superman's life force and trap it in Mjolnir and it's not like Thor can't handle the heat. He has spent quite a lot of time, fighting on the sun's surface.

I'm not really debating here, so "meh" to most of that, especially where you say it was exactly how it should've been (which is entirely opinion). I was just clarifying the business with the crossover fight between them.

It's not like Thor couldn't just shield himself instantly and then absorb the red sunlight.
