Also, so what if Rulk knew about thor? It's not like that gave him any advantage...not like if Rulk knew Superman's weakness and showed up with kryptonite laced fists. Him knowing Thor didn't change his fighting plan one bit.
Rulk could've killed Thor in that first encounter...but gave him pity. Rulk had Thor on the ropes but decided not to trash him any further once it became apparent the thunder god's dignity had been crushed.
Again, I'm not saying Rulk beats Thor, I'm just saying their two appearances are inconclusive of showing either having much superiority considering the circumstances.

rulk vs thor is unresolved but i think mjionir was the deciding factor in both their fights. I like loeb, sure his story is a tad confusing but he has some fun with it and he isn't scared of all the high and mighty comic book nerds. i think rulk and wwh reminded everybody that hulk is pretty near the top of the earth heroes pile............as it should be 😛
