Saw it last night. It wasn't that funny with the exception of the first jail scene and the bully part, but it was still a fun action packed movie.
I have to disagree with a lot of people who said they only liked the first half of it. I thought the second act was actually very good, and would have been almost perfect if they didn't get so dramatic at the end
overall, 8/10
I hope they don't make a sequel. People will see anything with Will Smith in it, he's the ruler of the box office, but honestly, this movie wasn't that good. It tried to mix too many genres, the drama felt uninspired and so did the "villains," if you can even call them that. There was no consistent tone/mood to the film. And, am I the only one who noticed/was kind of bugged by all the extreme close-up shots in the movie?
Of course this movie is worthy of a sequel. It obviously was the introductory episode of the character now in the next installment it's when Hancock will face more powerful baddies and the things will get more superheroish.. Man the sky is the limit if they manage to come up with an interesting adventure for Hancock.
Since Mary is apparently the alternate-universe, grown-up version of Kara from Krypton (ala Smallville), the sequel will involve Hancock discovering that he is, in truth, the Last Son...
...oh wait, "Mary" (Kara) already told him they were the last, only in this universe, Kryptonian cousins 1) mate, and 2) they exude residual red-sun radiation (which explains their mutual power cancellation).
Was it stated that Mary could control the weather? In the same way their being in the same location caused an exothermic reaction (in the dining room, restaurant, the popcorn in Hancock's trailer) - really going at it when fighting could probably cause even more pronounced environmental effects.
Also I thought that only their opposite number/soulmate would weaken them, not any member of their race?
Good question about the art in his cell. I guess it may've been there to show how tough his fingernails are but that's the one thing that seems as if there should've been more.
I really enjoyed the movie and would like to see a sequel. There's definately more stories to be told.
