Wow it really opened big. 107 million.

That's the thing.

It doesn't. It'x just the logo on a beanie Hancock wore.

Agreed, and the movie we saw didn't emphasis it being important at all.

And yeah, it's going to be one of the biggest box offices draws of the year, it already has $185 million worldwide.

Saw it last night. It wasn't that funny with the exception of the first jail scene and the bully part, but it was still a fun action packed movie.

I have to disagree with a lot of people who said they only liked the first half of it. I thought the second act was actually very good, and would have been almost perfect if they didn't get so dramatic at the end

overall, 8/10

I liked it being dramatic at the end.

Saw Hancock today. It was okay, cool action and special FX, some funny parts. But overall...it seemed uneven in what type of movie it wanted to be and struck me as backstory-deficient.

I haven't seen the film.

So what's with all rumors that this is just a scientology film? 😕

I have no idea but it isn't.

I hope they don't make a sequel. People will see anything with Will Smith in it, he's the ruler of the box office, but honestly, this movie wasn't that good. It tried to mix too many genres, the drama felt uninspired and so did the "villains," if you can even call them that. There was no consistent tone/mood to the film. And, am I the only one who noticed/was kind of bugged by all the extreme close-up shots in the movie?

If we get a sequel, I think Hancock needs to be given some powers (nothing Superman already has) but some powers. Their explanation for him not being able to use them in the first movie could simply be that he forget he had them.

Of course this movie is worthy of a sequel. It obviously was the introductory episode of the character now in the next installment it's when Hancock will face more powerful baddies and the things will get more superheroish.. Man the sky is the limit if they manage to come up with an interesting adventure for Hancock.

Since Mary is apparently the alternate-universe, grown-up version of Kara from Krypton (ala Smallville), the sequel will involve Hancock discovering that he is, in truth, the Last Son...

...oh wait, "Mary" (Kara) already told him they were the last, only in this universe, Kryptonian cousins 1) mate, and 2) they exude residual red-sun radiation (which explains their mutual power cancellation).

Personally I just saw it as a funny superhero movie, I didn't feel it tried to blend too many genres.

"true" movie fans don't think like that Jaxx. They have to try to over analyze everything.

Thus, smart people and Scientists= fail.

One thing I really was pleasently surprised about was how

Spoiler:
Ray(Jason Batemans character) wasn't played like a chump. I was really glad to see that he saves Hancock at the end

Yeah, he kicked some ass. 😎

Was it stated that Mary could control the weather? In the same way their being in the same location caused an exothermic reaction (in the dining room, restaurant, the popcorn in Hancock's trailer) - really going at it when fighting could probably cause even more pronounced environmental effects.

Also I thought that only their opposite number/soulmate would weaken them, not any member of their race?

Good question about the art in his cell. I guess it may've been there to show how tough his fingernails are but that's the one thing that seems as if there should've been more.

I really enjoyed the movie and would like to see a sequel. There's definately more stories to be told.

I think she could, although it wasn't directly stated. And yes, there is much more that could be done.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a side effect of there species fighting each other. At least, thats what makes sense to me

That's what I thought too. It would be cool if she could control the weather...I guess we'll have to wait until someone speaks on it in an interview or on the DVD or something. It'd be cooler as a side effect, because it'd show how hard they were battling.

I'm pretty sure its mentioned as a passing line in the original cut
