A Thanos clone needed an artifact, Mangog, and poisoning Odin to try and take over Asgard. He did so because he knew the real Thanos got a stomping by the All Father last time he lad foot on Asgard .

That's why I can't see him being a Thanos clone. Thanos didn't bother transplanting his memories into any of the other clones..

But the way he ended up, I guess it's the only real retcon that makes sense. That, and Thanos was supposed to be over his "death to the universe" phase by that point.

I guess it makes more sense than that Megatron clone business in Marvel comics, when the version of Megatron who actually experiences the timeline changing when Galvatron gets his face blown off in place of Megs in the original timeline gets retconned as a clone of the real Megatron (In other words, the US story and UK stories conflicted, and the US versions won out.)

Someone posted that edited scan in Character Ownage a while back. I thought it was hilarious and decided to save it.

As of now I fail to see how Odin will be able to put Thanos down. The Godslayer failed to do so and the Godslayer should put Odin down as it's specifically designed to take out Gods.
