R Kelly, an R&B singer who was defintley in that tape with those teenage girls in the movie I saw (what? I was curious), acquitted.

Yes, and they're looked at as people when people jerk off to them - women, hot women. Guys aren't like "oh, look at that piece of meat, oh, look at that spare-rib, mmmm".

So, you're issue with porn is that there is no personal connection between the person jerking off and the person to whom they are jeking off?
No doubt you'd consider that cheating, though.

Degradation is subjective, dependent on the person who is or is not being degraded.

In a way, yes.
I assume you are to explain how so? My longest relationship is actually with Adam, but I don't understand how human reality is so dismissable. Beyond that, I find your apparent limited consideration of human sexuality to be seriousy lacking.
Otherwise, you have to explain why there is some measure of consideration for one's supposition over that of another. Over that of anyone who preceeded them.
Maybe one day Burl will love me for who I am, over what he thinks I owe him because I chose him. Which, I always did and have. I particularly enjoy the dreams where I argue with him to the point of throwing things and knowing I'm right. Especially since I'm right as is he.

I thought it was a joke but alas:The discussion board are full of joke material. I think they are serious, but it's hard to tell sometimes with stuff like this.
On a more serious note, does anyone have a secular reason for practicing abstinence?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, that's so funny! "I'm a 14 year old boy, I'm a Christian, and I'm addicted to porn." Hilarious!
And, to be honest, I have indeed seen porn. What teen hasn't? To me, it's not that big of a deal to watch it. I'm not saying "Watch it every day!", and I'm not saying "Watch it at all". I'm just saying that if you've seen porn before, don't be ashamed. It's human nature to be curious. And if you're addicted? Try to kick the habit, but don't feel like you're some kind of monster. We all have our quirks and ways of thinking.
And who knows? Watching porn might make you better in the sack.

All she needed to do was step out of the way.

They might not think that. Just like I might not think that having someone poop in my mouth is degrading. (I do, though.) It doesn't make it any less degrading. You can dress porn up all you want, but in the end, it's just someone masturbating to you. And then when you're used up, you'll be tossed aside for someone else, who will be masturbated to.
So basically, your argument is that there's an objective point when something becomes degrading, regardless of whether or not the people involved agree (Ergo, subjective)?

How can you prove that, when the FBI couldn't?
And I, personally, don't consider it much of a crime at all. The girl let it happen.. that's her fault not his.
It's "legally" wrong, but I don't consider it to be morally wrong.

She was what, 12-13 at the time? Yeah, I'm sure it was her idea and Kelly was all but forced to **** and film her.
Yeah, he agreed to do it. He didn't try to stop it. But neither did she. She wasn't screaming and struggling against binds on a bed, there was no gun pointed to her head. She wasn't desperately trying to close her legs while he was prying them open...
Granted, I think that an adult should know better and be more responsible. And I think he's a sick ******* for having sex with a little girl, but I just personally think that unless physical rape is involved, an adult shouldn't go to jail for having sex with a minor, especially if he/she wanted it to happen as well.
Well... I think that maybe there shouldbe an age that you have to reach before you can have sex, but 18 is too high. Maybe keep the regular limit at 18, but if you're 13 years old or older, you can "apply" to legally have sex, like take a test or undergo some sort of evaluation and if you show that you understand exactly what is going on when you have sex then you can be authorized to do it.. like having a drivers license.
😐
I know that sounds weird...
I think people actually do need to pay more attention to "consent".
I think it's remarkable backward, all these different sex laws. A minor can consent to sex at 16 but if a man ****s her then he's a paedophile eligible for legal consequences.
I think when you reach 15 years old, possibly 14, you have a heavy degree of knowing what sex is, if you are or are not ready, and what you're consenting to if you do so without any physical harm. There's only so much "She was forced." I can agree to.
Obviously take into account the fact that younger teens are impressionable I suppose, but I think people do need to pay more attention to consent, and not write it off as "She couldn't possibly have known.".

Haha, I had a conversation yesterday. And someone said my views are the same as NAMBLA's...as if that would somehow make her win the argument. I assume she somehow though NAMBLA is obviously an evil organisation, so being compared to them should make one shut up, not realizing that people think NAMBLA is bad, BECAUSE of the views we share. Jolly good laugh.
Look, when a rich man can **** damn near any woman he wants by simply look at her and he keeps choosing underage girls (there were three girls in these series of videos but only one took the stand in court) he has issues.
He also got married to the late singer Aliyah when she was 15 years old in the late 90s. This particular incident never went to court (never had parents' consent) but they just broke it off.
R. Kelly is one of those weird cases.
Sure, on a "objective"" basis there is no wrong here, but he was the ****ing Rick James of the 90s for black women and he keeps having sex with pre-teen girls. I don't get it. (By the way, this is not the first incident. He has settled before court a few times because of these same incidents, but the tape was too much).
