STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Learner

Started by Peach42 pages

Simple snapped attack on the damaged Maw...hopefully this time it'll die.

Defend as defense.

Rianna rolls a 5... but gets Lucky with a re-roll for... 2. Oh...

The consolation prize is that the tanglers fail to ensnare you this time, and your defensive flourish keeps you clear of the Maws as they try to get at you. The injured Maw misses on penalty again.

You send in a Riposte... another 2? No kills this turn.

Force pool refreshed, but you've already used some with Defend and Riposte.

The cauterized blows you put into the Maw's stalk seem to be healing steadily...

Stupid dice...

Defend and Riposte for now, since they'll attack first.

Made a small edit to the post above; I forgot to factor what the Maws were capable of...

You fend off the tanglers, waving your lightsaber at the vines as they come near. The heat and pain that your weapon brings causes it to be a stigma against the tanglers, so defending yourself with it is very useful.

The Maws still viciously attack, however. Unfortunately for them, they do not get a hold of you.

Except for the injured Maw! Its beak clamps onto your leg, biting you for 4 damage... but even with the penalty your Riposte goes in with a 19! Despite its regenerative properties and its resilience to your lightsaber, you hack it cleanly from its vine and it drops.

That puts you evens with the vine creatures, but player initiative comes through for you. Have at it!

Rianna is going to swiftly slash her saber at one of the Maws twice, using Combination.

Defend as defense.

You performing a spinning slash at the Maw, then come around again with another attack! You are at -1 to hit, but you roll 17 and 8, a solid thrash through the Maw's beak and followed by a lighter strike at the stalk. It takes 45 damage total.

The tanglers get a grip on you this time, as a vine wraps around your feet and holds you still with a 19.

The Maws snap at you, but somehow you manage squirm even in the hold of the tanglers, because they roll 12 and 12... just misses!

The newly injured Maw tries to jab you with its poisonous thorn... 2 is a miss!

You are entangled once more.

Good thing Rianna can still act before they attack...

She'll quickly disentangle herself, then Defend against their attacks.

Rianna frees herself! The tanglers immediately try to get their grip back but no results on a 12.

The snapping Maws inflict 13 damage against poor Rianna.

Rianna to act, but it must be said, you are feeling less confident than you were about this when these things first appeared. The jungle floor is absolutely writhing with vines!

Yeah, not exactly sure how Rianna's even going to get away from this, once she kills these things...

Rianna will strike at the injured Maw with another Combination, using Defend to ward off any attacks.

A pair of 7s... no good!

The tanglers miss, but one of the Maws pecks at you and scrapes you with its spikes for 8 damage. A -1 penalty to Rianna for damage.

A green ooze seeps from the Maw's wounds and tries to seal the cauterized cuts shut.

Player initiative is yours.

Rianna is beginning to think that this fight is a bit hopeless, and is going to change tactics, using Master Jump to leap up into the trees and escape.

Having had enough of this, you take a tremendous leap and catch hold of a tree branch. The theme with this plantlife seems to be resilience- the branch looks incredibly flimsy and yet holds you just fine.

The Maws cannot pursue, but the tanglers start to creep their way up the tree.

Well, so long as the tanglers don't manage to, like, grab her and pull her out of the tree, Rianna should be fine...

She'll hop over to the next tree, to put some distance between her and the evil sentient vines, before looking to see what else she can see from up there.

Going to the top of the trees then? They all seem to be about the same height.

Sure, why not...good thing she's not afraid of heights...

Thankfully, the vines do not move very fast. Hopping from one tree to another and then climbing up into the paddle-leaf canopy seems to discourage the vines. You think it must be safer for you up here than doddling around the jungle floor angering vines and shrubberies and pretty flowers.

That being said, for sensing all this life, you have not seen many critters yet. It must have been the vines. Ah well.

At the top of the tree, you can see that a trail of ruined canopy has been left by the wreckage falling off the Last Chance. There is also a fantastical green sky cluttered with clouds that are pouring rain on you. It is also cold up here.

That, or all of the animals are very good at avoiding the murderous plantlife and staying hidden.

Well, it seems that following the trail of wreckage remains the best course of action, for the time being. Rianna will grumble a bit about the rain and cold and the fact that she doesn't have her cloak, before hopping over to the next tree to continue her search.

Eventually you happen upon the cockpit, encrusted with vines from its short stay in the jungle.

It's down on the ground, I assume?

If so, Rianna will make her way down out of the trees, sensing for any danger and hopping onto the top of the cockpit.

"Quinn?" she calls out, lightsaber out and ignited, just in case.

It is.

The vines have wrapped tightly around the broken cockpit of the Last Chance. The windows are smashed and they have crept in. You hop down onto the hull, wary of danger, but... the vines do not respond.

Inside the cockpit, you find the burnt remains of a Maw. Its beak has been blasted open and it is dead. It seems to have perished at most yesterday.
