STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Learner

Started by Peach42 pages

Hmm, true.

Well, then I suppose Rianna will begin her search in the jungle towards the back of the ship, keeping her senses open for anything approaching her, and her eyes open for any wreckage of the ship. She can easily carve marks on the trees to mark areas she's searched already.

The jungle is incredibly dense; the large, paddle-shaped leaves of these trees are thick and grown-in close together on the higher limbs of the trees, thinning out as they near the base (think upside-down Christmas tree). They are highly effective at blocking out the sunlight.

There are a massive collection of vines that have wrapped around the bases of these trees and network across the jungle floor.

Fortunately, the fog seems to thin out as you move away from the lake and into the jungle... and you find pieces of the ship! You must be moving in the right direction.

Going ahead with the marking of trees with your lightsaber?

Yep! It'll help Rianna find her way back to the main ship, as well. Hopefully they won't try to eat her or something.

Rianna is going on her jungle safari and marks her first tree, the lightsaber cutting through vines and bark to leave a burnt gash in the tree...

You sense anguish.

...from the tree? That's...odd...can she sense where it came from?

Well, Rianna will continue her search, and probably think of a different way to keep track of where she's going. Since there's trees and vines and stuff everywhere, there's probably broken branches and vines and fallen leaves on the ground, so leaving piles of those every so often would also work for that purpose...

You are not sure. Your senses are inspecific and cluttered with all the life around you. But you definitely sensed pain. Around you, as well.

Time consuming, but that can be done as well.

Well, Rianna definitely wants to check out what she was sensing, but since she can't get a good enough sense of where it was coming from, she really can't do anything but continue her search for the moment.

You move on, making your marker piles as you go. Vines hang in your way, retarding progress, but eventually you come upon a strange formation, covered in more vines. The canopy above it has opened up and sunlight is shining down.

Something odd at about this... rock?

Vines can be easily cut down...

Hmmm. Strange. Rianna will investigate the odd rock, keeping her lightsaber in her hand.

Your lightsaber makes short work of the vines... but you sense pain again... and danger.

The rock is not a rock at all, but armor plating from the Last Chance! It must have fallen through here and torn open the canopy, creating this nice little clearing.

But you haven't been here long enough for vines to completely cover it up like this... unless...

Down at your feet, the vines have wrapped around your ankles.

Ahh hell, the vines are alive or aren't actually vines or something.

Rianna will quickly ignite her lightsaber and slash at the vines wrapped around her ankles, trying to cut herself free.

The first one. The vines are not only alive, but sentient...

You cut yourself free and stagger up onto the ship wreckage, where there are less vines. But the jungle floor around you is now writhing with living vines...

Rianna: 10(4)/0/2

Tanglers: -/4

Maws x4: 0/4

Four beak-like apparati have risen from the masses of vines, covered in spikes and snapping at you with their razor-sharp jaws.

The tanglers cannot take damage, and each turn will try to Grapple you to prevent you from acting or taking defensive actions against the Maws.

But for now, you have initiative.

Since they can't take damage, can the tanglers at least be dodged?

Rianna will snap two attacks on a Maw, slashing away at the things. She'll use an active dodge against a Maw, and also Riposte.

Yes, but you need something that defends against multiple targets as the tanglers are coming from all sides.

Your lightsaber flashes in and burns across the stalk of one of the Maws twice, as you roll 18 and 16 on your snapped attacks. 50 damage total against the thing! It screams when you strike it, opening its beak and revealing a particularly sharp-looking thorn where a tongue would be...

The Riposte is noted, but did you want to change your defense in light of my comments on the tanglers?

Defend would work nicely, I think...

Gotcha.

Though the tanglers and the Maws are on the same frame, the tanglers will always strike first as part of their strategy. They roll a 3... no cigar, you keep them at bay!

The untouched Maws snap at you with their sharp mandibles. 15, 18, 16... they manage to nip you, tearing at your clothes and skin. You take 19 damage from their bites.

The Maw that you injured, however, opens its jaws wide and tries to sting you with the lethal thorn! 13... a miss! You Riposte and drive your lightsaber into its mouth, destroying the thorn but not quite killing it just yet. These things are surprisingly resilient!

The vines are going to attack again!

Defend, and another Riposte - hopefully it'll finish off the the one that's really high on damage...

Rianna is annoyed and mildly amazed, as she never really thought she'd end up fighting sentient plants, of all things...

The vines come at you againt to ensnare you... 19! A vine slips past your defense and quickly wraps itself around your swordhand, forcing your lightsaber down so that you cannot defend or take action.

The Maws snip at you again, coming away with your blood in their beaks as you take 18 damage. The injured Maw- now having ignited from repeated blows from your lightsaber- misses due to wound penalties.

It is a frame to break free from the tanglers...

Rianna shall definitely try and break free of the vine holding her arm...

Very simple; Mook-Killing Power kicks in against the tanglers, and you roll a 19. A simple flick of your wrist severs the vine. It goes limp and releases your wrist.

You are on frame 10, even with the vine creatures.
