"Explodes, or the pain becomes too much"?

Are we using All-Star Superman as canonical evidence all of a sudden?

Avlon, I think we did get crossed up. You were comparing Braniac-13 drone blasts with Surfer/Thanos' blasts. See, I was pretty sure you were comparing Braniac-13 drone blasts with Imperiex Prime's personal blast. If I had to compare Braniac-13 drone blasts with Surfer/Thanos blasts, I have no problem conceding they were of similar power level and both Superman and Odin took their respective blasts easily.

He may not explode, but 'Our Worlds At War' strongly suggested that he could lose control or overload himself. As for the pain, well, 'Our Worlds At War' made it significantly clear that he was adjusting to intense pain. And there's also 'Tower Of Babel.' Talia used modified red kryptonite on Superman, making his skin transparent so that every single cell of his body was absorbing much more sunlight. He was screaming in pain then and had to hide from the sunlight until the effects wore off. But like Soljer pointed out to me earlier, I don't think Mr Master intended those consequences for this thread. It wouldn't make sense for the spirit of the thread.

Wait a minute, didn't Supes also have a power boost from Kismet during Our Worlds at War?

Well, he also has feats like absorbing enough energy to destroy half of a galaxy.

Only when he breached Imperiex Prime's armor. After that, he didn't.
