So I can't speak for ill, but I'd imagine the answer would be "no" to your example question. Otherwise, all of our prep-amps and such would carry over as well.

You miss the point. For mages, magic is thier info.

Magic is magic. I don't think I'm missing any point. They could retain knowledge of a spell or something, but you're asking if you can literally keep magical amps from match to match. That's not what I'm doing at all. And how would that be different than any amp of any nature? If that were the case, I'd get a bunch of sorcerors to amp Minion next round, maybe assimilate one of them so his mind could "retain" the amp, then say he's that powerful forever. Which would be ridiculous.

If you learned/acquired a new spell/ability through battle experience you'd be able to retain it if you had the capacity to do so.

If you took the actual artifact itself, like say a magic wand or something along those lines, no.

So then the question becomes, what is information. For your character it's tech. But for let's say Charlotte's zakary character, his information is magic spells or pure magic. Does he get to keep a magical amp from an artifact if he absorbs it?

Zachary can't amp his powers via artefacts (didn't do that on panel, so likely doesn't know how, despite being knowledgeable in types of artifacts), it's Amanda Sefton (Magik II) who can do that. But neither Amanda nor Zachary can absorb artefacts... and energy reserve isn't an "information" of any kind. Artefacts amp mage's energy reserve, not his skill level.

Though I've used telepathic information assimilation, but that was merely knowledge or skills (though useful in one case, as assimilating Jean's training experience allowed me to use Emma's latent TK\raw psi-energy manip with greater efficiency that Emma herself does).

Right. Thanks ill.

👆

Though Charlotte has been making use of the info retention a bit, as have Blair/Smurph with Nimrod. Not to the extent that Minion has (yet) but I'm certainly not the only one utilizing it.

I'm just trying to see how you are keeping souls from one match to the next. The information of thier brains is what is keepable. But the actual souls? Do souls count as information? Also if you are allowed to keep thier actual souls, are mages allowed to keep any "information" that they gained.

That was the tourney where I came up with the insta-tech via matter manipulation/techno-organic shapeshifters plan but never got the opportunity to use it in battle thanks to Trickster. I was teamed up with B-Dub (of all people), Newjak, and ExodusCloak. I remember having to debate with them on MSN that it was pretty much a foolproof plan and would guarantee us victory, but I got a lot of resistance on the characters we'd draft (Newjak insisted on drafting Super Skrull because of his, at that time, high end appearances in Annihilation, and ExodusCloak wanted to draft Exodus). B-Dub was down with the plan from the jump though. He knew I'd struck gold. We were going to doomsday device our way through to victory.

Then the wheels came off.

That's what you were telling me in PM, wasn't it?

lol.

Save it for another time. Maybe you'll get the chance after all.

That's all I needed to know. 🙂

Souls were approved by ill. So yeah. Minion's assimilation process involves them, so the two are inseparable.

Mages retain info as delph defined it. Nothing more.

Yeah I wanted Super-Skrull. We still neded to fill the team out and SS's powers are very good for the level we were.

But I fail I do the conversation injustice if I didn't mention the tid-bit about us all thinking the plan was good but no one, yourself included, being able to think up on a matter transmuter that would be draftable at the level of tourney we were using. 😛

Emma is not Minion- she can "download" knowledge of others, but not souls etc- so that's minor stuff. The most useful thing I've asquired so far was Jean's and Cable's training in TK (to use Emma's pseudo-TK better, since Jean in Emma's body was able to use said pseudo-TK\raw psi energy manipulation much better than Emma ever did herself, since Jean's specialty is TK) and some combat skills from guys like Judomaster, Wolverine, DCAU Hawkgirl etc.
Recently it was also Cable's futuristic tech knowledge added to that set.

Damn straight.

😎

I was originally just loving the idea of assimilating opponents skills, then it came as a revelation that I could take a match or two to boost myself by assimilating my own team. I was like a kid in a candy shop rifling through the tiers thread looking for potential victims. KK was the first logical choice. And I about poo'd myself when I saw Cpt. Marvel Jr. sitting at High Meta and put the pieces together on it, since I already knew that Minion assimilated souls, but didn't think it was an advantage until then.

Minion's ability is not unique. 💃

Of course not. Few are. But he's great for this particular rule. And I expect others to follow suit to an extent (Nimrod has already done some impressive stuff with borrowed info) but I have a head start and more plans to follow up on last match, so we'll see. It's the sort of thing that needs to be done to win a tourney, but certainly not the only thing....and we have a lot of matches ahead of us.

Hmm...

I thought we'd settled on Bedlam the Exemplar in the end? The team I wanted originally was Madison Jeffries, Reed Richards, Dr. Doom, and Mandarin (Mandarin's transmutation ring to create the materials, Jeffries to create the tech, and Doom, Mandarin and Reed's minds for Madison to pull the designs from and instantly create via his powers). If I remember correctly, what happened was during the discussion process before the draft we couldn't find scans of Mandarin creating a lot of different metals with his ring due to our scan resources at the time, so we started looking for different matter transmuters that were displayed on panel to create a lot of metals. If we had then the resources we have now...

...Trickster still would have pulled the rug out from underneath us.

Heh. Nah, my competing days are over, just like my debating days.

Strangely enough, I get more satisfaction out of being a competent league organizer and free lance strategist than I do in direct competition. It's like playing one of those RTS/simulator games where you get to set everything up and see how things play out. I get to come up with inventive ideas and see how people adjust and strategize, and then make adjustments here and there on the things that cause issues to get the best results and level of competition going forward. That's something I've always enjoyed.

Doom was banned from that tourney because of his magical powers ... that's why we were going with Doom 2099 (he lost his magic for the most part)

Reading though your performance in Batdude's tourney. That was... magnificent example of tourney coolness.

awesrug

🙄

You did more of the write-ups because you were/are a control freak, the ideas and plans for each write-up were discussed at length prior to each match (but, unlike Leo, you didn't change things without telling me ... 😮 )

Each write up was then sent to me for "tweaking" before submitting, a process I liked btw ... saves me from doing all the grunt work and I still get to act all superior by saying things like "take that part out" and "add this in here, it'll sound better"

Bet you still don't know where I got the scans that show how to destroy Vibranium.

😛

ps... Space Phantom was teh shit, if we had that Hercules scan before the last match, we would have pwned.

True.

So. Uh. 😮

lol

I got them for the match against ... Goober I think, someone had Absorbing Man and kept transforming into the stuff from Cap's shield or adamantium or something so we decided to prep by coating our Phantom aquired Surf boards with Anti-metal ... only thing it might not work on is Vibranium so I dragged up some scans to show how we could pwn them if they used that as a counter-tactic.

How can you not remember that? ... it was the one match we won on prep alone 'cos they came in 'metalled' up and we tore straight through them.
