I don't really read Spawn, so I'm not sure how the story develops, but from what has been said and what I've read so far, it appears, at least to my understanding, that Cog's possession of this Crown is fairly new and just part of the current arc, like Thanos with the IG, and it's not his "standard equipment" per se.Either way though, I did miss the part about the Crown being internalized. That would denote the Crown itself being brought to combat and would in fact be illegal. I was under the impression that id used the Crown to upgrade Spawn during prep, not that he brought it with him (within him) to the battlefield.

BTW, how is this move possibly correct? The Miracle Machine was Abstract but Braniac was still within caps; by all rights, the same precedent should apply to cogliostro's less powerful artifact.

Yeah, I know. We couldn't bring the crown into the battlefield, but even with that standing, the only thing that should be illegal was our battle plan... you're allowed to use items during prep.
You can't draft Quasar for 10 points, but promise to only use the quantum bands in prep.

The Crown is not standard equipment. It is base equipment like the Miracle Machine. The two are exactly analogous.
I'm just trying to follow the discussion here, I don't read Spawn. I was under the impression that for current Cog, the crown was standard equip.
