I don't really read Spawn, so I'm not sure how the story develops, but from what has been said and what I've read so far, it appears, at least to my understanding, that Cog's possession of this Crown is fairly new and just part of the current arc, like Thanos with the IG, and it's not his "standard equipment" per se.

Either way though, I did miss the part about the Crown being internalized. That would denote the Crown itself being brought to combat and would in fact be illegal. I was under the impression that id used the Crown to upgrade Spawn during prep, not that he brought it with him (within him) to the battlefield.

So I should dismiss Id's prep and plan regarding the crown?

Under my understanding, the prep is legal but the battle plan (which brings the crown powers) is not.

By rule, since an era specific version was not stated, Id drafted the current Cog by default.

Current Cog is the King of Hell in possession/empowered by the Crown, therefore the 15 point price would be too low and Id/Kandy would be 10+ points over the salary cap.

Wha? You knew he had the crown from the very beginning but okayed it. What changed now?

Oh well I am not shocked.

*goes back to playing CoD 4*.

So Id & KK are DQed because they went over the salary cap?

BTW, how is this move possibly correct? The Miracle Machine was Abstract but Braniac was still within caps; by all rights, the same precedent should apply to cogliostro's less powerful artifact.

The miracle machine was neither standard equipment, nor was it brought to the battlefield.

Yeah, I know. We couldn't bring the crown into the battlefield, but even with that standing, the only thing that should be illegal was our battle plan... you're allowed to use items during prep.

Yes, but if the Miracle Machine was Brainy's standard equip, he wouldn't be a valid character.

You can't draft Quasar for 10 points, but promise to only use the quantum bands in prep.

The Crown is not standard equipment. It is base equipment like the Miracle Machine. The two are exactly analogous.

Is current Cog not empowered by the crown?

I'm just trying to follow the discussion here, I don't read Spawn. I was under the impression that for current Cog, the crown was standard equip.

I don't believe there is any reason to think he is currently equipped with the crown; merely that it is in his possession.
