USH'S STAR WARS GAME 2008- 'New Blood' (prequel for new players)

Is there anyway to figure out if I'm on the right track? Or what I should be looking for? I know I lack Cosmic skills but hey I'm only asking for a subtle hint or our whole plan is pointless, we didn't know the mines were that far away. What we figured were possibilities such as a possible attack on the mine and minors themselves. The Hanger. Or the meeting. Thought we would try to cover the obvious ones.))

"Ok Arfour, stay in the hanger, keep an eye on things there. I'll check in later to make sure you're not getting lonely. Contact me immediatly is you spot trouble." He laughed and switched frequencies back to (Jovan's character)'s. "Arfour can't head out through the ion storm, we have to be without the astromech. Also the mine is almost a mile away, I'm not sure it is worth the risk. I'll stay with the talks... I'm a little out of the way." He headed towards the meeting. "Could you speak to the Minor's rep before the meetings start?" The comlink clicked to stand-by while he waited for a reply.

Renegades-
Well I picked the pilot variant, so a 4 in piloting here. I have to assume that's good.

That's pretty impressive, yeah. Combine that with your Dexterity score and there is your dice pool for Piloting.

As for 'knowing you're on the right track,' Jedireaper... right now you are trying to just figure out what the situation is between the different parties, what their views are, and what the threat is. Who would be the 'traitors' that this message considers? This part is simply thinking how you're going to help things out, rather than going 'Aha! I figured out who the terrorists are and how to solve everything!' And you're doing just fine as far as security planning goes. I'd try to figure out who has what opinion.

Ah, so that'd mean I have a dice pool of 8, awesome.

Guess you're flying then, I only have a dice pool of 5. And I thought that was impressive 😛

"No problem! "
And much more silent so the senator can't hear it (or I move away of course):
"Things here will go very slowly, I don't think the senator will budge to any suggestions of the miner's guild... perhaps we should solve this behind the scenes..."

Can I meet the representative of the miners/mining guild before the meeting and alone?

"Right, I'm heading back. We can both meet the mining rep if there is time..."

RENEGADES

Oh well then, you Renegades have no trouble with that! Do you still want the local Houn to get some Cal into the deal? They'll arrive on foot later on.

You set down your transport just out of sight of the settlement- and a moment later it is Sean who spots the tiny speck in the air above. An observation drone!

JEDI

Eckersly, the local mining bigwig, doesn't seem to have turned up yet. But Trema, the Mining Guld guy, is in the meeting room. getting him alone is impractical. There is time for you both to meet him.

Security arrangements look pretty solid to you, Denzral- assuming, if the threat is real, it's not come from someone who is allowed in.

THE DARK SIDE

Ok, well, the meeting is going to start then, with the hundreds of Epireans around. The ball is in your couurt, because your range of social Force powers gives you a great deal of control here. You can soeak first if you wish, or you can wait to hear what Ogros' representative has to say.

I want to hear what he has to say first, to know what angle they are coming from. And I want to scan, Ogros second man.

Renegades-
I can't hurt to bring the Cal in. Are the Houn aware that the Cal maybe be used to help take on the kill teams? Also, can Wentar see the drone too or only Sean?

I walk to Trema asking him if I can have a private word with him.

RENEGADES

Well, the Houn have to be aware, they are doing it! They would normally object but times are harsh and, after all, the Cal will suffer too, else.

But yes, you can both see it now. It is surveying the general area.

You can see the settlement in the distance... and just beyond, the glint of the sun off what must be the enemy walkers. They are disturbingly close to the settlement.

JEDI

Trema would rather not leave the room, he wants to keep track of what is going on, though he will talk to you. He's looking over paperwork, mostly.

DARK SIDE

Glortharg speaks.

He says that the time has come for the Epireans to thake their place as masters of these lands. The men from the mountains bring the Epireans nothing but threats and death- at their whims, for nothing but sport. Epirean warirors are strong and mighty! Ogros' tribe will no longer take orders from the mountain sorcerers, and he says that all of the other tribal leaders should decide the same. He knows that there is great risk. These people are strong and mighty also, and have powers that no-one can understand. But they are few! They depend on fear for their rule! They think us weak, but we are strong! if we unite, and all stand against them, then we shall see how weak they really are...

He goes on for a bit- but that is the essence of it.

If he wants to leave the room, fine by me.

"Before the meeting starts, I thought it would be better to speak to you before any agitation towards and from the other parties might make any decent talk pointless.
I have not yet been briefed about the situation through the eyes of the Guild and it would be most welcome to understand your position so it will be sure no side gets left behind."

Oops! Sorry, my typing error- he would rather NOT leave it- still saying your piece?

And I would question Eckersly's reasons for being late, and arrive to speak with Trema. I stand beside my partner (who's name I don't know...).

Con-Gordo listens carefully to what Glotharg says, and after the sounds died down, slowly rises up and takes his place in the speakers spot. He gives it a second or two of silence and then starts to speak (Presence):

"Do you trust Ogros?

A few years ago he came from nothing, grabbing power by force. What makes you think he will stop now? What makes you think he wants you to rule alongside him? Nothing. I tell you what will happen, he will rise up, and in time, get rid of each one of you. One after the other. He will take your people and rule them like animals. Yes, we do command, but we demand relatively little. You work for us and can live your lifes as you always did. It is a good life for both of us. Firak knows it. His tribe are close to us and we work with them wisely and fairly.

Ogros threatens this. He wants to own you. We just want work. Is this what you want? Being ruled by a "man", too cowardly to even show his face in a meeting? We are three people, and still, the "man" is too scared to show up?

Yes, some of what Glotharg says is true. Epireans are strong and we, also, are few. Yes, if you all unite you might have a chance. But we are also powerful. It would be war for years. Many of you would fall, many of your loved ones would fall, your lives would never be the same. And one thing I can promise, ultimately win...you will never. You might destroy all of us, but as sure as I am standing here, as easy as I can use my sword of fire, as easy as I can move these objects...our final act will be to make fire rain from the skies, we would destroy you, your families, your tribes and your world even before you could celebrate your victory. Even before you knew that you had won, your life would end. Everything you know would end". With the last words Con Gordo ignites his light saber and uses his force push to move some of the objects nearby.

Once the noises of the Epireans have died down, he takes back his sabre and slowly walks back to his seat, sitting down in silence.

Renegades-
As long as the Houn are aware Wentar can feel less guilty about exploiting the Cal, if only a little.
Any indication that the drone has seen us? Oh dear... if it doesn't see us I'm pretty sure it'll see the Houn bringing in the Cal. Unless there is a way we can deal with the drone we better head towards the settlement.

Observation drone, eh? Any way we could "borrow" the footage it's recorded? If it's the general area it should show the kill teams on it. We could use the force to pull it down to the ground without damaging it and then tinker with it's insides, right?

JEDI

"I don't have any agitation at all," says Trema. "My interests are purely professional. In the Guild, we represent our members' rights. That includes their right to strike if need be! Regardless of any official bullying So I hope you are not here to force a settlement."

He's not sure where Eckersly is.

RENEGADES

Yeah, by the look of that thing it has a very broad sight range- it must have seen you. And that certainly is not Houn tech...

It's about a mile up, Sean- out of your pull range.

DARK SIDE

Do you want me to wait on others there, Con, or are you happy to make your speech a solo effort?

I think it's okay. It captures the strategy Heretical and I worked out.

Also, I am extremely curious what happens next.
