"I think... you are missing the point... actually..." Azarl says, slowly and with emphasis, running a hand over his bald head. "You see, while you may... dislike... being subservient to us, there is still much to be gained from it. On the other hand... death... of a warrior... is final and useless. Some of our numbers may not understand that, but I assure you... that they will. The Epireans are valuable. We know that. You are saying that slavery... is elongated but equally useless. Not so. There is so much to gain from siding with us! We have power that we are slowly increasing. Imagine where the Epireans would be if they helped us out with that, rather than smashing it down with your little... bronze... axe-y things."

*giggles and claps*

That was good.

What she said. "Little... bronze... axe-y things" is one of my new favorite phrases.

Renegades-
Can we make it to the settlement before those forces reach us? Eh, either way I say we push on to the settlement. But if Sean wants to chase a drone around on a bug I can wait. 😛

Lol, that's a funny image actually. I can picture Sean becoming Wile E. Coyote while trying to get that drone. Let's move on and start filming as we go, they know we're here so we can't hide, but we can run to a better position.

Okay, I am Brit, I play a Scholar named Jelena Bendu. I am a Jedi Knight player and I am here to help our new guys. Thanks for joining, btw. 🙂

Anyways. I will combine Rex's and Ush's advice. Rex reminded you that right now you are just figuring things out, where everyone stands and whatnot. I would try to get all opinions on the issue BEFORE negotiations actually start. Otherwise you will go in clueless and find out as you go, which will harm the situation. Furthermore, Jedi are here to help things along. Perhaps once you get the varying opinions and issues gathered, you can sort through them and decide if you can figure out a way to help communicate between the parties for negotiation?

Remember that you are helping, not dictating.

JEDI-

A D&D style alignment system can be a pain so your attitude is not tied down by this game. But you are agents of the law, and you are also ambassadors of the Light Side, which comes down to being morally a 'ghood' person (which, in the Star Wars universe, is a concept that can be actually defined thanks to the macguffin that is the Force).

You are here to do what is right. Try and work that out and I will comment if there is some sort of legal or practical objection to your thinking.

The meeting is starting in a couple of minutes. Some of the miners are looking around, wondering where Eckersly has got to.

RENEGADES

Let's go! Game on, people.

It looks like one walker is heading towards you. These walkers are of an unsuaul construction, being modelled not unlike the large insectoids of this world, with six legs and a tail. Three mem operate them in an open cockpit, and it looks like each limb has variable uses; they can be used to walk, ior climb, or as a cutting tool... the cockpit is also armed with blasters. They sucttle surprisingly fast!

The one coming towards you is backed up by about a dozen men.

Meanwhile, you might be JUST short of getting to the settlement before the main force gets there...

DARK SIDE

Fine words, Azarl, though lacking Con's exhaustive social set (which, amongst other things, allows him to sense who is listening to/deferring to whom, and also means that people tend to naturally accept him as a leader) means you don't quite have such an insiduous effect, you are nonetheless an effective leader and your definite use of Intimidate there is backed by your skill set.

You've also opened up an interesting avenue, so one of the responses from ma tribal leadr- let's name this one as well, call him Gryuth- wants to know exactly what you mean by 'where we could be'.

(Their imagination is fairly limited, you see, so they have difficulty following your reasoning. Give them a few ideas...)

I give a little force based nudge to my comrade while hinting at the place Eckersly should be sitting; trying to show him I don't trust his absence.

"What does the Guild feel about negotiations about to start while its local chief might be running late?"

"Well, it's a pain," says Trema, "especially as he was going to bring that contract info. But in the end it is not us who are negotiating, we're just here to advise. The other miners can make their case."

"Without contract information? Does this not mean that we can negotiate for a long time and than when he returns with the specifics, we have to start all over again?
Perhaps there is a way the other miners can reach him to ask where exactly he is?"

Renegades-
If we stand and fight we're going to be too late to help the settlement aren't we or are we going to make it before the walker and dozen men get to us?

They are virtually interposing so you would hit them first. TStill, tricky decision...

-

"Actually I understand the Senate has set a time limit on negotiations so this is the last day," says Trema- which is true.

Renegades-
What are the odds of our survival if we split up? Say, one person fight the forces that split off and the other tries to get to the settlement for filming. I somehow doubt video evidence of them attacking us is good enough.

"Thus it is urgent that we find the representative now. Can you ask the miners to contact him?"

He can ask them; he's not sure what difference it will make.

And indeed, none of them seem to know where he is.

-

Splititng is a possibility, Renegades; let's see what the two of you think.

"I see," Denzral glances to Jovan the back to Trema, "the minors have the right to ask for the extra money if the job is as dangerous as you say." He notices the wondering minors. "Once we speak with Eckersly, we will then be able to form a solution. It is most urgent."

And yet it seems whatever contribution Eckersly makes will have to wait, as he is not here when the meeting begins.

Fisk, the local Administrator and political bigwig, calls everyone to order. He introduces everyone, and also thanks the illustrious Jedi guests for being present here to help out in these difficult times.

"Sith spawn." He silently curses moving to an appropriate position.

"I thank you, Administrator Fisk for your kind words but we always seek the opportunity to help others. I do hope the negotiations will be short and fruitful."

REN:

"Go to the camp, I got this..."
If things go well then maybe I can comendeer the walker and get there soon.

A split it is! Wentat dashes off to take a somewhat curvier route to the settlement as Sean bears in.

Soon the walker and the men are pretty close to you, Sean.

"Get lost if you know what is good for you!" one of the men in the walker shouts.

The talks begin, with nothing controversial happening at first. It goes along lines that you have already discussed- the major sticking point appears to be the money going to the miners. They also want to discuss some parts of the contract for the mines, but the miners seem a little confused by the wording of the contract in the treaty.

As neither of you have Law- not a surprise- you must say you cannot make much sense of this darn thing either. The whole deal is tens of thousands of pages long; you could beat a Wookie to death with this thing.

It's been made by lawyers and not designed to be generally understandable.
