Paid mercenaries makes you no better!

The law in this sector is effectively hostile to you, that's the big problem. They are all in the pay of the Serpent.

Renegades-
WTB Law skill! We send the recordings us Renegades are jailed but the Houn are saved give the recordings to Nostrum and the Houn are doomed... Maybe if the Republic becomes aware of the Serpents influence here...

RENEGADES

"Criminals?" says Nostrum. "Then what are you, then? Are you perhaps the law? No? Were you perhaps collecting legal bounties on my men? No. You have no right or legal authority to have attacked and killed my men. That footage makes you just as much criminals as it does them. All we have as to who fired first, is your word against theirs. And before being convocted, their word is as good as yours.

"So send it. if you want to rot in jail."

There is a cough from one of the lawyers.

"If it seems everyone has something to lose here," he says, "perhaps we could come to some... arrangement?"

JEDI

True, Jovan- but we'll try and keep it to those wielding sabres!

He just needs to push the button but you might be able to wrestle it out of his grip...

I'll do the grip than, using as much power as I have and yelling to Fisk to get the hell out of there!

JEDI

Jovan, desperately you blur over, you feel your hands grasping around his and...

... nothing... you've stopped him! You lie atop of the miner on the ground, breathing heavily. You feel the despair coming from him.

RENEGADES

They don't wear emblems, Wentar. Where you say 'The Serpent are there', people will just see businessmen. Wild accusations from ex-lawmen!

Everyone loses if those recordings go out- the Serpent are in trobule and so are you. Having had your big fight, this is your more social/thinky part to close off your story.

Perhaps the lawyer's suggestion should be entertained...

Renegades-
Oh that was a Lawyers suggestion? I thought it was Nostrum.
"What kind of arrangements are you thinking of?"

"Well, perhaps the recordings need not go anywhere... but we'd want something in return. What do you think, Wentar?"

Renegades-
Wentar thinks for a moment, knowing that handing over the recordings could get very messy at this point. "You hired us, we will do what you think is right."

"You are the ones with the recordings," says Nostrum. "I want to hear what YOU have to say."

hooza!

"We need talks, not violence to solve these problems. Now that we, the Jedi, know what happened to Eckerly we will do our utmost best to get him here at the negotiationstable again to ensure the miners have a fair negotiation. We are not out to destroy you, we are here to help. My comrade Jedi has shown this by saving your life from the sniper, no?"

(Can I, again, put all my charisma in this?)

Renegades-
Wentar bows his head before looking at Nostrum. "What do you have to offer? I suppose it'd be too much to hope for for these attacks to end."

RENEGADES

You don't think they are going to offer anything, Wentar. You must be strong when dealing with people like this!

JEDI

The miner nods at the life-saving part.

Tarjan is not happy, though.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" he says. Senator Gern also says that the dictates of criminals such as these should not affect the negotiations, which were pretty much finished.

"Didn't want him coming to the negotiations with what he had, did you?" screams out the miner.

"Has he really been arrested?" says Trema, who arrived with Gern. "From a Guild point of view that is a worrying development."

"You believe scum like this?" says Tarjan.

"Whatever the truth is, these allegiations are serious enough to investigate. If Eckerly is indeed taken prisoner, we must release him so he can participate in the negotiations... So, do you know where he is?"

"I've no idea," says Tarjan. "Though if anyone has been arrested for anything then I am sure it is legitimate."

"I am not doubting the legitimacy of his arrestation, I am merely explaining that while he is in jail, the miners will continue to work against any deal made concerning the aid the Republic is willing to send. If he can get out of jail, with guards or us Jedi as custodians, we can work out a deal which would provide more backbone towards the miners as their representative signed such a deal himself. It is a situation which would benefit not only them but the entire planet and the sooner this happens, the sooner help can arrive and the sooner people can get saved... which in turn of course, means you (now I turn to Fisk, the administrator) get more sympathy and thus more votes on the next election..."

"There's no time," says Gern," and besides, the negotiations are all finsiehd anyway. So all ths is irrelevant."

"Indeed," says Fisk.

Renegades-
I know I'm going about this wrong... I just can't think of anything the Serpent can give us that'd be useful at all, other then not persecute us for the deaths we've caused. I swear I'm missing something...

Keep it simpler, to the current situation. What is it you want the Serpent to do?

You can tell them that you won`t bring this case to Coruscant if they stop attacks on Houn. Renegades.

Yup. Make demands along that nature. That's why you're there, so don't back down from it. And don't be so damned wishy-washy, stand up and actually make demands instead of asking what they want 😛

Renegades-
Jedi with a backbone away! Again, thanks for the advice.
"We will leave the recordings here, as long as you stop your attacks on the Houn."
