RENEGADES"Criminals?" says Nostrum. "Then what are you, then? Are you perhaps the law? No? Were you perhaps collecting legal bounties on my men? No. You have no right or legal authority to have attacked and killed my men. That footage makes you just as much criminals as it does them. All we have as to who fired first, is your word against theirs. And before being convocted, their word is as good as yours.
"So send it. if you want to rot in jail."
There is a cough from one of the lawyers.
"If it seems everyone has something to lose here," he says, "perhaps we could come to some... arrangement?"

JEDI
True, Jovan- but we'll try and keep it to those wielding sabres!
He just needs to push the button but you might be able to wrestle it out of his grip...
JEDI
Jovan, desperately you blur over, you feel your hands grasping around his and...
... nothing... you've stopped him! You lie atop of the miner on the ground, breathing heavily. You feel the despair coming from him.

They don't wear emblems, Wentar. Where you say 'The Serpent are there', people will just see businessmen. Wild accusations from ex-lawmen!
Everyone loses if those recordings go out- the Serpent are in trobule and so are you. Having had your big fight, this is your more social/thinky part to close off your story.
Perhaps the lawyer's suggestion should be entertained...
hooza!
"We need talks, not violence to solve these problems. Now that we, the Jedi, know what happened to Eckerly we will do our utmost best to get him here at the negotiationstable again to ensure the miners have a fair negotiation. We are not out to destroy you, we are here to help. My comrade Jedi has shown this by saving your life from the sniper, no?"
(Can I, again, put all my charisma in this?)
RENEGADES
You don't think they are going to offer anything, Wentar. You must be strong when dealing with people like this!

The miner nods at the life-saving part.
Tarjan is not happy, though.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" he says. Senator Gern also says that the dictates of criminals such as these should not affect the negotiations, which were pretty much finished.
"Didn't want him coming to the negotiations with what he had, did you?" screams out the miner.
"Has he really been arrested?" says Trema, who arrived with Gern. "From a Guild point of view that is a worrying development."
"You believe scum like this?" says Tarjan.
"I am not doubting the legitimacy of his arrestation, I am merely explaining that while he is in jail, the miners will continue to work against any deal made concerning the aid the Republic is willing to send. If he can get out of jail, with guards or us Jedi as custodians, we can work out a deal which would provide more backbone towards the miners as their representative signed such a deal himself. It is a situation which would benefit not only them but the entire planet and the sooner this happens, the sooner help can arrive and the sooner people can get saved... which in turn of course, means you (now I turn to Fisk, the administrator) get more sympathy and thus more votes on the next election..."
