I guess it is more the amount of McClane threads you've made rather than the quality of them that made them think you seem to have a problem, and, given past track records with other posters like RJ, it seemed you may have inadvertently stepped on some toes, which while unfortunate, may or may not have been your fault. that said, the way you reacted also contributed to the flames igniting as quickly and as badly as they did.....

The amount of "luck" McClane has (IE The McClane factor) is so large that it beomes more likely that the pact with unseen forces made in DH1 held.

If it concerns you to the point you maintain it does:

If you sit down at a poker table, and he is there on it, leave.

BTW Airforce one scenario was more redundant obvious McClane winnage like Vs Van Zan.. the level of feats denial, downplay and everything else you stamped your feet with in there revealed your troll agenda soon enough though.

I just don't like that potentially fun and interesting threads are missed out on purely because of bias. No matter who the OP is, if they make a good thread, it should be answered. I'll admit my fault, and I did get a bit vitriolic at times, but no more so than what I received. And as I said, it shouldn't affect the overall board.

I actually always considered his luck as a sort of double edged sword. is he lucky to survive AND win in most of the situations he finds himself in? Absolutely.

Is he lucky to find himself in those situations in the first place? Hell to the nth degree no! (Getting huge shards of glass in your feet because you took your shoes off to relieve jetlag is anything but lucky.)

The thing is, luck alone is not enough. it's McClanes other factors that more often than not nets him wins, for example, McClane is gritty as all hell.

Reason at last. I've always maintained this, especially the last paragraph.

If McClane had just prayed for deliverence on that roof, without aiding himself in the hose manoeuvre, he'd have gotten blown up.

That is true. I've McClane his accolades for his gun skills, and he's excellent in melee combat, but his brutish fighting style in pure H2H just does not seem like it can overcome a skilled opponent in a fair fight.

Well, he's not necessarily a H2H Close combat monster, and he doesn't possess super strength, speed or anything beyond police CQC training, but he does have certain CQC feats that somewhat support the notion that he is indeed quite capable of fistfighting (And I mean beyond the average Irishman, who are already known for being brawling fisticuff masters). He has fought military trained people, sometimes as the underdog.

That said, demonstrated feats are only part of a debate, not the whole enchilada.
