A win is a win, Ken defeated Ryu during Alpha 2 when Ryu's mind was clouded...that's a win. Ryu cheap shotted Sagat, however Ryu is still the champion of SF1. Lastly, your wording of your last paragraph makes me alittle confused, however "each" series if your implying meaning one continous series, then yes, I agree, that's what it is.

SF1, Alpha-SF2, and SFIII all yielding different results make them interesting. I'd obviously be annoyed if Ryu was winning every single Street Fighter tournament to date

yep. they win. but the way they win every SF tournament is disappointing. ryu won via cheapshot, the boss retreated because received a justice shoryuken and don't want to fought 4 people, even gill let alex win. now, where's the most impressive part from such a victory like these? none of them have a impressive victory.
