United States Presidential Election 2008 - Official Discussion Thread

There's no comparison between Bush's idiocy and Biden's occasional gaffe. Bush makes errors because he actually doesn't know, Biden is known for just speaking out of his ass sometimes and just says shit without thinking, he's not known for being ignorant, as Bush often is. He's still the most knowledgeable person in the senate, especially on foreign affairs. He's earned that by showing that he has a ridiculous amount of credibility on the subject, Bush has no such pedigree.

More importantly, there's no comparisson between Palin and Biden. Biden might, possibly...plausibly, substitute TV for Radio. But there is no excuse for saying that one has foreign relations experience because you might be able to see Russia from your home and having Canada on the other border.

"I don't know...I'll look it up and get back to you"

"I stopped the bridge to nowhere"...after it was consatntly proposed and supported by my own party and then I decided to save my ass at the last minute by opposing it.

"I'm waiting for someone to tell me what a Vice President does!"

A ****ing moose in headlights is all I see.

Once again another case on which side of the fence a person stands on.

Obama freaks see this as "coward move to buy more time"

Mc Cain nutjobs call this "courageous way to show leadership in a time of crisis"

I see it as just "politics being politics"
.

I see it as insulting. You could easily hold the debate in D.C. on Friday...

I don't mind a different opinion or whatever, but don't insult me in the process.

Edit: OMG. I just came across this: Signs point to McCain attending debate

Now he's a courageous leader... velho

Funny...I don't recall saying "chithappens you're a ______" or anything like that...but if you want to be place among those individuals then it's entirely on your choice not mine.

If you really don't mind opinion leave it at that...

Great set-up.

I apoligize for not making this clear (I had just woken up) but I meant McCain going from "I am not going to devate because the economy sucks and I can't handle two things @ once" to "Yes, I put you, the taxpayer, first but now here I am."

It was completely at McCain and not you.

My fault completely.

Hey man...there is no need for apologies we're all cool here....You feel that way about Mc Cain...I don't mind...just like when someone have different feelings about Obama...it's all good. That's just politics....I have no beef with neither candidate...it's their fanboys I have a hard time gettting across. But that's pretty much with everything.

I like what Obama says but I don't know how he'll get it done.

McCain does not give a damn about any of my interests so it's like whatever.

You have perfectly summed up this Democrat's sentiments, lol.

I was watching the Simpsons last night on one of my box sets and I really realized how relevant that Citizen Kang sketch from one of the Tree House of Horrors still is:

"It makes no difference which one of us you vote for! Either way your planet is doomed! DOOMED!"

"These candidates make me want to vomit in terror!"

Well he not only gaffes but he apparently plagiarized a couple of speeches here and there back in the day. So I mean really overall he's kind of a strange one to me. Like I said I just want him to be kept on script and allowed to improvise as little as possible. I just don't like hearing my leaders or potential leaders saying stuff like that. It's why I never could STAND to listen to Bush even in times of crisis. He just sounds so idiotic it was never comforting to me. And I don't like a guy who doesn't have a guard over his mouth either and to me Biden runs his quicker than he thinks.

Interesting opinion shift on Obama and McCain.

In the primaries, people loved for them to be president, now that they're the actual nominations, people have gotten a sudden disgust for one or both. Is it just be cause they're nominees, or because they've lost their alure.

I believe it's a combo of the two.

Great set-up.

I recently met up with a large amount of my family. (My grandfather passed. 🙁 )

I got to talk politics with all of them. Most of them believe Obama is a Black Supremacist, anti-white, Muslim, evil baby killing, inexperienced, oligarchy fetish-ing, anti-American.

My response was, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong." It pissed them off, very much.

They were trying to convince me of how horrible Obama was and how awesome McCain was BY convincing me how horrible Obama was. Such as, "McCain is awesome because Obama wants to kill babies." I responded, after their BS, with, "If I was to take a guess, I'd say you've used that same exact fallacious logic to decide that McCain was your candidate of choice?"

Silence.

They didn't even understand what I just said, nor did they realize they were committing a logical fallacy.

One is a professor, one is a med school student, and one is an accountant. They were the main participants. These are the types of people we have voting for McCain, and yet, they still can't form a logical thought.

You have idiots in your family, no offense. No, offense.

And the debate is going to happen tonight.

And surprisingly it looks like Obama has gained even more in the polls since McCain's stunt to suspend his campaign.

I've alluded to that fact more than once.

No offense taken.

I look forward to this. I can't wait for McCain to look like an idiot.

I also can't wait to watch Sarah Palin squirm under her idiocy.

I think it's both and I also think that people's mistrust of politicians is at an all time high here especially with this bail out mess. So they're suffering for that as well.

Not true. He did use a speech by a British Labour politician back in 1988, and he cited the source nearly every time. It's just that the one time he didn't, he was being filmed. That's not plagiarism, that's an honest mistake.

Oddlyy, my opinion on both of them hasn't changed, at all.

But you can't tell Bill O'Rielly that. He sat at his little desk on FOX News last night and flat out lied that McCain has surged in the polls because of his sudden expression of concern over the tanking economy. Even to this day, I am astounded at the ability to flat out, straight faced lie, by the talking heads on that network.

Well of course, O'Rielly is simply cherry picking, that's all he does. He takes one poll that shows McCain now ahead and just ignores all the others. And if someone calls him on it he'll just say that those other polls are 'far left' and not valid.

Not that is is relevant in the current political setting but didn't he get in trouble for that in college too?

I don't know, I didn't know Joe Biden in college.
