Dak's got a 2 in Languages, does he understand this being?

And indeed, 2 in Savoir-Faire say anything about the star? (Though it's obvious what it is...)

Nah uh mhm

The star has 'Deputy' written across it.

As for Languages- this is very obscure stuff, but you think he said something about permission.

Con looks the guy in straight into the eye and says, pointing in the general direction of Rianna and Rand: "Ah, yes, permission. I think you will find I can't help you with that. But if you talk to our leader there I am sure they can help, they is in charge of all sorts of negotiations, including monetary" With that he swiftly walks past the big alien and makes his way to the bar.

Dak watches Con with an expression somewhere between amusement and annoyance.

The alien sticks out a large arm to stop you, Con.

The next sentence he says is something about money.

A number of other beings in the bar are standing up, hands held near their weapons.

Good going, Con. Great.

Dak passes a subtle glance to Rianna and Galder, shifting into a ready stance in case Con continues to be an idiot.

"What exactly is the problem, and do you have someone who speaks normal language here?!" -Speaks Gallador, half-annoyed, half-amused.

Gallador has Intelligence 5 and Languages 2.

He's talking about a 'landing tax', Gallador.

"You showing disrespect to an officer of the law?" says another one of the standing men to you, Gallador.

The force guides me.

Con is a bit annoyed at the Alien's lack of understanding, but tries to hide it and says as freiendly as possible "Look, Sir, I am just a simple worker, my masters take care of money and the law. Please have a talk with them"

"Well, of course not, we are law-abiding people and will obey all local rules, though starport staff didn`t inform us about taxes."- He gives nod to the deputy.

"I apologize officer, it just seems we have little language difficulties. Perphaps this good man can help with communication?" -He points to the man who spoke and to his mouth.

Dak is grinning his head off now.

"Tu vaaa raak," says the alien, and adds onto that the universal language of mocking laughter.

Those of you with high languages scores- alien said somethig akin to 'no exceptions'.

"Strikes me that these strangers are showing disrespect boys, eh? Coming here, to our planet, and not even bein' polite enough to speak the chief deputy's language?"

There is a murmur of laughter. A lot of those standing are wearing stars too.

"Could you help us?" -Gallador asks the man who speaks basic, though he has suspicion that deputy could be well pretending not to speak basic to be annoying. "How much taxes are we supposed to pay?"

Ush, is this town very big, in case we got in a fight with locals? 10 of us can take a small army, I think.

...What exactly constitutes a "high" score? 2s and 3s?

Rand or Azarl would be best suited for this. Both have Intelligence 5 and Languages 3.

And hah, a thinky one asking about whether we could slaughter the town...

Con throws a look at Rand and Rianna as to say "Can we please just kill them all". Then chooses to instead say to the deputy: "Very well, how much would that landing tax, be then".

Also, can I use my savoir faire roll to find out more about the situation. i.e. whether such taxes are common and how one should behave?

There's no precedent for that sort of thing at all, this is what you technically call 'extortion'.

2 is pretty high, 3 is very high.

The town is fairly big but much of it is abandoned.

"Shaar too!" says the alien.

"Yeah," says the other guy. "At least a thousand each, I'd be thinkin'. Plus an extra five hundred a piece to forgive the insult."
