"And what does that suggest?"

"That they are not from within the Republic. If they had been, they would have been discovered by the Jedi Order, like myself. The girl was using a technique that is merely a historical factoid by now."

"That's possible but not for certain. I was not discovered either. It suggests something more conceptual than that. 'History' is the right word. It suggests age, Gallagher. Antiquity."

"Perhaps they are not operating in this time period?" Gallagher suggests, unsure if that is what Sienar is getting at.

Sienar raises his one good eyebrow in an amused expression.

"I think that says more for your imagination than your instincts. What I meant is that you will find that everything about this mystery points towards the past- the very, very far past. Things that most people feel should have remained buried forever."

"What do you know, then?" Gallagher asks.

"There's an old saying- 'knowledge must be learned, it cannot just be given'. This is about what you know, not I. And some of what you saw is not something you shouyld just accept without question- that way lies failure.

"So question what you saw. Make sense of it."

"Judging by what you say... they use arcane methods that have no use in modern Force-using organizations, such as the Jedi Order. So perhaps what they seek is also arcane... and, if you say that some feel it should remain buried... perhaps they seek the secrets of the Sith?"

"Well... some secrets are so dark and remote that those who dwell in the bright light of civilisation can never know their nature.”

Well, you Jedi are just sitting in the ship right now!

(Well, I was giving 'ol Roan a few days to reply. Since he's the leader I didn't want to step on toes by taking charge. However....)

Andro turns to Roan. "I want to start by finding Dr. Mirani. I'll locate an information terminal and see if I can find a residence or office I can visit. Jelena, will you accompany me?"
(If no objections Andro will begin immediately.)

As it turns out, there is a reception party of priests waiting for you outside.

Andro decends the ramp from Jedi Roan's ship and finds the group of priests waiting. Great, now what? he thinks to himself, but puts on a warm smile and bows politely.
"Good day, Fathers. I am Jedi Knight Andro Fenris, here with my collegues Jedi Knight Roan Trilanger and Jedi Knight Jelena Bendu who will be joining us directly. How might I serve you today?"

One of them nods his head and introduces himself as Father Karlan of the Synod of Ferradyne.

"We has been sent from the holy centre of the Basilica to... keep track of your investigation here."

That's what I thought. Andro keeps his tone light and plays dumb. "I thank you for your consideration, Father. However, we Jedi are well experienced with this manner of work. If we require your assistance we would be happy to call on you." He keeps smiling, even knowing what this was likely to go.

"You may proceed as you wish of course, Master Jedi," says Karlan, "though we are bound to remind you that although the Basilica is open to all visitors, the attending Senators for the conference are entitled to diplomatic privacy and as a courtesy to the Senate we are required to ensure that privacy is not breeched. That being the case, I would like to know where you propose to begin your investigation."

Oh, that's not so bad. "Rest easy, Father. I do not believe our investigation will lead to business with the Senators. As Jedi Knights we would not presume to interrupt a Republican Senator in their affairs of state anyhow. BE assured, if the unforseen occurs, we would go through official channels, whichI now understand to be yourselves, to request an audience with any Senator." He keeps the smile and light tone and continues, "Of course, as far as where we plan to begin, it si not my place to comment on an open investigation. The mission lead is Jedi Trilanger, who should be with us shortly. Shall I got and get him so as not to keep you waiting?"

"What secrets?" Gallagher asks. "Don't even pretend that I would know anything about it..."

"I am sure you are capable of finding out. These are secrets that just about no-one knows... or even ever knew."

-

"However it pleases you to proceed, Master Jedi," says Karlan, "and he can speak when he is ready. Where do you plan to go at all, then?"

"We were thinking of looking for whatever type of information terminal or kiosk might be in the area. There are, interested parties if I may be delicate, that we would like to interview. I was hoping we could look them up there."

"Maybe I can help you," he says. "Whom did you wish to see?"
