"Alright then," says Mlim, eating another mouthful, moodily. "But it's not me you have to answer to. I'll tell you this; the frontier worlds are getting pretty sick of the Senate and all things connected with them. The only thing keeping them tied to the Republic is necessity- if thwey could go it alone, they probbaly would. And now if the Repiublic isn't even going to grant them THAT lifeline... I don't know what will happen. Assuming enough are left alive to do anything meaningful."

"I truly hope it doesn't come to that. I guess we'll be finding out shortly, though."

I'm kinda stretching things out for Roan's benefit here, btw.

Sorry, So lets get back to it. Now where was I... Ah yes..

"I know that you do not approve of our presence here, few do. And I am not going to claim superiority over you. I will not presuppose to know more than you. However, if I am correct, would it be not advantageous for me to do what I am doing? How could that cause harm? You understand the balance between Light and Dark more than most. How could I not seek the Dark Side and vanquish it?"

"Some see the Dark Side everywhere and do more harm than good trying to bring it down. Even those who find it often only bring about pointless destruction in a pointless quest. What you lack, Jedi, is faith."

"In what way?"

"Faith in the Force. Meanwhile, all you are doing here is bringing down the reputation of the Church."

Time for you to head back and think about things, Gallagher- and there's a lot to think about.

I think Jelena has found all she needs to know from Senator Joylo. She will steer the conversation away from matters of the Poverty Commission, having decided that her new knowledge of the voucher system may add to her understanding of what Sienar intends to do. Once she figures out what he plans on doing, of course.

Jelena just chats in general with Senator Joylo about his career and his homeworld, and answers any of his questions.

He is amiable as ever. What do you make of him? Other than what he has directly told you, what have you learned?

My question of insight to Andro is- why is M'lim so bitter?

I think Senator Joylo is so jovial because, while he refuses to comment on how he thinks things will go, he feels that things are going to go his way. Unlike M'lim, who knows that things aren't going to go her way in the least. Senator Joylo has an important seat on the Commission, after all, as one of the three deputy chairbeings. Also, his race seems to be the sort that need to be well off in order to attend to their ravenous hunger...

Just to keep up with politics, Jelena will ask him who the other two are.

Otherwise, Jelena feels that he knows the issue well, but doesn't want to start putting out ideas just yet, either because he doesn't want to make it look like he wants to swing things his way, or because he doesn't actually have any.

(I assume that she is from one of the affected worlds. Or is some sort of Missionary/Red Cross person. Either way, she's seen the problem first hand and has a personal and/or emotional connection to the issue. She is frustrated because she thinks she can see the answer right in front of her, but can't get anyone else to. Either no one beleives her answer is right/will work or no one is willing to back her. Andro is an example of choice 1.)

He's actually just a guy who likes his food, Jelena, there's nothing racial about it. The other two names are Senators (mumble) and [insert name here].

Well, M'lim has certainly seen it first hand, yes.

"For that I apologize, I do not seek to slander your faith, I only seek justice."

"What justice is there in hounding a man at the expense of all the good people that work in the Synod? Whether you mean it or notm the slander still comes."

Gallagher, after watching the banquet for some time, decides that he cannot watch any longer. He grows more and more disgusted as more food is consumed, thinking upon Sienar's words about how the Poverty Commission is consuming more than some of the worlds they need to help.

He stands up and leaves the shadowy alcove, moving back towards his quarters, away from the sickly sweet stench of burnt flesh that hangs about.

The images of the dead to come assail you, Gallagher, now even as you are awake. If only you had more control over your insight into the future! You cannot make enough sense of the fragments the Force gives you!

The future is always in motion, you know that. But this is a crisis point, where options have collapsed down to a number of alternatives that can become certainties. If Sienar dies, they die. You know that, but you cannot see why. You must protect Sienar to save them but... at what cost might that be?

Or will it be any cost at all? What if Sienar is right about you? One thing he says rings true indeed- that Commission isn't going to be the one to save them. The Jedi Order COULD do it- they have the power, but they won't use it.

What about you?

Gallagher refuses to let Sienar walk free for all his crimes and for his Dark Side nature, knowing that he must have sinister motives despite all his apparently good-natured ideas. But he also is set on preventing the famine and the billions of deaths that could come with it. If it happened, simply knowing that he could have prevented it would drive him mad, let alone feeling all the deaths as they happen.

Sienar being alive doesn't necessarily mean he cannot atone for whatever his evil plan is, after all...

If you had the power to save them, where would you draw the line?

Gallagher will not kill to ensure that he saves everyone and Sienar, and he will not call upon the Dark Side. If it does require other shady business, such as whatever Sienar is planning with his massive amounts of money... that is not so bad. And he will continue to protect Sienar as things become more clear.

You've killed before in the pursuance of your mission.
