"Tavers," he says. "The Abbot has been my client for quite some time. Alas, there are all too many who would seek to take advantage of a holy man."

"I rather feel they wouldn't if they knew what he was capable of," Gallagher says. "The Abbot may appear frail and weak, but it is a very effective facade."

Gallagher eyes Tavers' briefcase.

"So, what is it that you actually do for him, at the moment?"

"I do almost everything for him, considering the complicated currant state of affairs in the Galaxy. Not to mention the presence of Jedi here, of course. Present company excepted."

"Of course," Gallagher says. "But Sienar has forseen that they will not effect the outcome of his plans, so you should not be terribly concerned about them. After all, I am to become Sienar's protector and pupil. They will find it difficult to contend with my power."

Inside, Gallagher feels as if his stomach is shriveling as he speaks these words. But he speaks confidently.

tavers smirks.

"You;re not much of a Jedi, are you? oddly enugh, you sound like one of the priets- putting all your fait in the Force. Sienar, as do the Jedi, bleives the Force helps those who help themselves. Part of his assessment of the Jedi being no threat includes me doing my job!

"But I am glad you bring such power to our side. We'll need it."

"We certainly will, if we are to do as Sienar has planned," Gallagher says, smiling slightly. "What are you doing, exactly, to stop the Jedi, anyways? I hope you do it well, or I will have to do it my way..."

Gallagher gestures to his lightsaber as if he were one of the finest swordsmen the Galaxy had ever seen.

"Like I told Kathya- client confidentiality, I am afraid! But actually it is pretty simple. There's really nothing leading to the Abbot. There's a lot leading to Varm, but that's no longer an issue. If the Jedi get their brains in gear they might find something linkiong Kathya... which will be a shame... in fact they'll find rather a lot of the Abbot's dealings are actually done in her name."

"Peculiar. It is fortunate, then, that Sienar has such a dedicated lawyer to cover his tracks, isn't it?" Gallagher says. "I shall have to take to heart what you have said about the Force helping those who help themselves, Tavers. Alas, I must go meditate. It has been a pleasure meeting you."

Gallagher offers his hand for a firm handshake.

"To cover his tracks, certainly," says Tavers, taking your hand.

"Certainly," Gallagher says.

After that, Gallagher hurries off to the quarters that Sienar gave him to meditate, wanting to clear his mind of the images of the dead that keep swelling up to meet him now that he is not focused on anything.

I have to get that briefcase, Gallagher thinks to himself. Somehow, and soon. And the others need to know about Kathya.

So, what can you conclude from your meeting with Tavers, Gallagher?

-

The only other things that Jelena and Andro gatehr from the Reception is that, whilst their general opinion and objectives are known, no-one is quite sure what stance the Synod is going to support yet.

"For that I apologize. It seems that Sienar is meaning to make a mandate on the course of action of the poverty committee, what sort of action is he expected to take?"
(I want to try to steer this conversation towards the poverty commission, and away from yelling at me.)

There's lots to be learned from what he says though- as there is from all of the character's attitudes! Trying to avoid what they say doesn't get you much.

"Not that the Archimandrite in waiting shares his plans with me, but what difference does it make to you?"

"I am seeking to learn more about this situation. I don't believe the poverty commission to be a bad idea. Its goals are good, and more people should help."

"But it is hardly what you are here for. Are you considering interfering there as well?"

At this point I may have to assume that Roan gets no more information- which is a shame, but time is pressing.

Gallagher can conclude that Tavers handles a great deal of what Sienar is planning, maybe even knows the entire plan! That briefcase is important because of whatever it holds, Gallagher wants to get a look-see at some point.

And if the Jedi want to start unraveling things, they shouldn't look so much for what links ot Sienar but what links back to Kathya. Too bad she's blocked off by Tavers. Gallagher isn't sure if he can get a message to them... or if he wants to.

Certainly difficult.

But yes, Taevrs does seem to be running a lot of it. But what was the implications of what he said to you, regarding Kathya? I feel your instincts missed it...

Well, if a lot of things led to Varm and to Kathya and to Mirani... perhaps Kathya is the next scapegoat that Sienar will pin his problems on, and potentially the next to die.

Well, look at what Tvaers specifically said.
