But we're looking at a hypothetical scenario of Thanos and Onslaught (in his energy form) one-on-one...true there is no Moondragon around to establish a psychic link between the two so they can do battle, which means by all likelihood Onslaught will be the one who makes the contact...then he gets mind-raped.
Either that or the two of them will just stand around and look at each other...giving Thanos the time to formulate a plan...and that's the last thing Onslaught wants.

Thanos has proven he can defeat a characert such as Moondragon who initiates a mind war. She initiated and he came out on top.

You still haven't proven that without help Thanos can resist a TP like Onslaught.
Your own example shows that a gemless moondragon was capable of a psi-feat that Thanos was not and one that Xavier who is weaker and only one part of Onslaught's power could do.
