Her only purpose was to establish the link...it was all Thanos from there. Maybe he doesn't have the ability to initiate a telepathic communication on his own...or maybe he'd rather someone else be on the receiving end in the event of a psychic feedback...who knows?
He won't have to worry about a psychic link being established against Onslaught...as Onslaught will surely be the one to initiate it.

- High resistence to tp (Never been mindrape a single time)
- High resistence of matter manipulation (Being born an eternal, he have a complete control on his molecule. PLUS, he's one of the few being able to travel in the nexus of reality without a scratch.)
- Have faced more dangerous opponent (DP Tyrant is a Galactus Lite (really Lite) but still have power to rival with the toughest Skyfathers lvler) and Odin is a magical being. Magic, in Marvel, is an alien power to cosmic bein (said by Galactus when he faced Agamotto). Not only he survive an all-out pissed/bloodlusted Odin, but he gives him a match. Onslaught have been beaten by mere mutants.)
- Smart and cunning SOB (Thanos is smarter (by miles) that Doom. Onslaught have been outsmarted by mutants. Geez!)
And most importantly:
- The Pimpslap power (Thanos make shut the **** up both Drax and Hulk with one. On the other hand, Onslaught have been hurt by Hulk.)
The way I see it, Onslaught is at best between herald lvler and skyfather. Thanos is far above that. Silver Surfer would be fairer.
