Way to go, buzzkill.I think it's more likely that they are teasing the audience with the mystery about who she is and her role - likely that SHIELD sent her in to investigate Stark from the inside, so they can leverage him into working with their Avengers initiative.
If her character had no accent, it makes no difference. She's a spy and is supposed to blend in.
Yeah, because getting into a boxing ring conveys that...
"Oh! That's Black Widow, the spy.".
Nobody who doesn't know Black Widow would have any clue, and those of us who do, would.
It's not buzzkill.
Of course it would make a difference if she had no accent. Black Widow is a Russian spy called Natasha Romanova/Romanoff. If she walks in sounding like your average piece of American tail, then it's shit and they've tainted the movie.

So you want her to talk like Cate Blancett in the last Indiana Jones film, with an accent straight out of Rocky & Bullwinkle? That's being cartoony.
They key to being a spy is having people not guess you're being a spy. So she would likely talk with a clean accent. How many Marvel Comics have you read with Black Widow, do you detect an accent or different phrasing of words? Only the odd Bendis-scripted Daredevil have I seen it. They certainly do it with Russian characters who aren't spies, like Colossus & Crimson Dynamo.
Yeah, so she gets in the ring with Tony and probably shows him some moves that impresses him, knowing he's an irrepressible playboy who loves tough, beautiful women and decides he wants to hire her - that's her way in.

No, I don't want her to speak like another non-Russian actress who also fails at doing the accent.
I want someone who either naturally has the accent or someone who can do the accent well. It's not like I'm asking for much.
Yes, you do detect them because every now and then the dialogue will depict an accent. Regardless of that, she is a Russian spy. She has only ever been a Russian spy.
I don't particularly care what her role is as long as she's good and they do the character justice. I don't suspect she'll have a huge role, but I don't see why this means she has to be shit.
Scarlett Johansson is definitely the least talented of the names in the top roles of this movie. Sam Rockwell is the best actor in the cast, R.D.J. and Rourke are amazing also. She's not great, and because she's not great I do not see her putting in a good performance or Black Widow being a highlight.
I could be wrong.

Seems the film was starting to get dark

She just seems like a really boring character to watch now.
how can that be when the film is not even out
Not until the next noteworthy piece of news or someone else feels they need to convince me I've been too quick to deem movie Black Widow as unimpressive. Maybe I've seen too many action girls or maybe it's because I used to watch pro wrestling in the 90's so I've seen Rey Mysterio do that head twirl move like a thousand times.
