Bdub/Smurph, I'll be home from work in about 2.5 hours so we can discuss things on MSN (in regards to your replacement character, etc).

Very true. But that's Sandman, not Sand. Different power sets, despite the similarities. Sand was turned to glass once, but it was a dream sequence. Otherwise, it's never happened and the evidence that KFish and other pointed out suggests that it would not be possible at all.

He'd have to be dispersed well beyond normal battlefield parameters in order to incapacitate him for the 2 minutes required for a technical win (or is it 5?). In either case, the point stands.

Nowhere in rule 16 does it say that a too powerful healing factor is banned. It simply says that immortality is banned. Hence the example of Deadpool, who is not allowed to die, as decreed by Death herself. That is not the situation at all with Sand, and there are a number of characters in the tournament that could kill him.

I really don't have the will to argue this right now. It's not the first of the bullshit ruling's I've found so far, and I don't mind mentioning that I'm pissed.

Maybe when I have a calmer head, I'll reconsider, but for the moment my response is thus:

I quit.

Oh Dear. Well at least you didn't get beaten with an absolute zero ray gun and winds. 😆 🙁 Don't quit tho.

Smurph's got a point, to be honest. I'd love a crippling ruling to a feared opponent as much as anyone, but immortality was all that was banned.

I would like to hear which characters Smurph thinks could kill him and why, because I do think he should be banned. But my own suggestion would be to allow it for this week's match that just finished (sorry KFish), then ban Sand if we think he's too uber with healing/regeneration, and clarify the rule in the process.

As for Smurph, you still have Nimrod "Prime" as you put it ( srug ).

Ok, I've had some time to think it over and do some research and actually, it looks like that may be a typographical error in the healing factor rule. Healing factors were in fact voted on to be capped at around Wolverine back on pages 21-28 during the group discussion on the matter:

It's still freaking fast, so like many have already said, it's a slight neuter but won't eliminate the advantage of drafting a speedster. It simply makes it a tougher decision, because now it's not such an advantage as before.

...

So, let's recap:

- Majority seem to be for the Mach 10 limit.
- Majority seem to be for banning immortality powers (Deadpool, Mr. Immortal, etc.) but regular healing (Wolverine or less, roughly) is fine.
- Tech cap remains at IM or lower.

So it's actually a mistake on my part (not stating the full intent of the rule clearly enough), so I won't penalize BDub/Smurph in their match.

Going forward, however, Sand will be beyond the Wolverine Level Healing Factor cap which was established back in August. I think that's a equitable compromise for all parties involved.

*edit

And to be clear, that's the nuke surviving Classic Wolverine, not the depowered Wolverine.

"close to absolute zero" if you're not going to pay attention to your own match it's no wonder that you lost.

And his ice ring shot out heavy chunks of ice as it was coming out. Now how that translates into close to zero degree weather is a mystery to me. I paid attention to that dear. At best Storm's winds did nothing but carry a big chunk of ice thru the air. 😉

hey FG, what is the make-up of your current roster again? i keep losing track for some reason . . .

No wonder you lost.

The Ice ring never once shot chunks of ice, it froze the air every single time it was used.

Storm's winds pushed absolute zero degree air forward at hundreds of miles per hour, which meant that when it reached you it was still at almost absolute zero.

It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.

Tee hee.

Grasp this. If it freezes the air, Then there is no way WINDS can push it along. What don't you grasp? Wind is Air. That would require that the wind be able to move. You can't freeze Air and expect it to move. His ring was far more powerful than the coldest winds on earth. After a certain point, the air cannot move becuz it's TOO COLD.

and think of it like this: if you blow across the top of a block of dry ice, the air you blow is uber cold, but wamrs quickly as it moves away from the ice. we froze a huge area with an amped ring and set the wind to blow across it. perhaps it was not absolute zero when it reached you, but it would have been very close--close enough to hinder you. but i think it was the back attack that hurt you more than the cold. 😬

and hey, EVERYONE has lost matches they thought certain they won . . .

Back Attack? I had a giant Boomtube into outerspace directly Behind FireStar/SpeedBall. Coming in from the back would have put you right into space. But it's no sweat. I don't care that much. I'm like the Alice Gore of Florida. 🙂 P.S. When you were sending out your uber cold blast, FS was sending out her Microwave/Scrambling blast. Things to consider. I'm going to wash my hair. Be back later.

You miss the point. WIND is AIR. IT cannot move if it's frozen that Cold. It would freeze and drop like a sack of bricks. Genius.

Only the absolute zero air isn't moving ... the hurricane force air provided by Storm that's pushing it is only at arctic temps.

I can't believe you still don't get that.

Regardless ... your own plan was never going to work in the first place so it doesn't really matter.

😛

And how did your team attack again in all the cold air? yeah. discussion over.
