STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

A cheer of victory goes up among Sparnik's people. Some shed tears for those you lost in battle, but they express their gratitude that their friends could have fought beside a Jedi of the Republic in glorious victory.

Josiah is whisked away into the crowd for celebration, but Sparnik asks you to come with him.

I will follow him.

Sparnik leads you to his 'office,' the cave where you first made your deal with him. Armed guards join him, for his protection.

"I see you have done as I asked, Jedi," Sparnik says. "Well done. How do you feel, now that you have helped us? My men will be able to move without being tracked."

"I hope that we will win the war quickly and make life better for the people of Vono'k. But, it is tragic we lost so many people today. Above all I anticipate a meeting with Medraud and Medraut."

"Yes, I'm sure," Sparnik says. "I'm afraid there is a problem there, Con."

"What problem would that be?"

"You see... you have proven yourself to be a very valuable resource, Con. It would be foolish of me to let that resource go. You see, the Thieving Twins are not on Vono'k. To tell you their location would mean letting you leave."

"I do not think you have much of a choice. I can..and will...be a valuable resource to you, but not before I finished my other duties..."

"Don't think I don't know how this works. You will run off to finish your mission, one you might not even survive if I'm right about where the Thieves are, then return to Coruscant where your masters will tell you not to come back to Vono'k. I am no fool, Con."

"No...you are no fool...but my master is gone...I have no one to answer to. But what do you assume I will do if I do not get my pay?"

Sparnik remains silent, as if expecting you to answer that question yourself.

"You think I will just continue to do your bidding? Look, I am genuine, I will work for you after I had my doing with the twins. Is there no way I can prove to you my sincerety?"

"Help me finish this war," Sparnik says. "Then I will give you your thieves. With a Jedi at my side, the Grotos do not stand a chance."

This war will take time...I need to find them quickly.

"I am confident that you will help me bring this war to an end far quicker than I would alone," Sparnik says. "Help me, Con, and I will give you the thieves and more!"

"Why should I believe you? You promised before...what makes me know you won't just lie again?

"I would rather have you as my partner than my prisoner, Con," Sparnik says. "But do not think that I will not enforce what I have asked. Would you like time to consider my request?"

"I would be of no use to you as prisoner, but yes, I need time to think about your...offer."

"You misunderstand me," he says. "I would detain you, but coerce you into working for me. I'm sorry, Jedi."

Sparnik allows you to return to your quarters of your own free will, though his armed guards keep tabs on you to make sure you do not leave.

What does Con think about this?

Con's not even sure anymore why he is doing it. He thinks he was enraged by learning his master went down and wanted to finish the job of protecting the Votive of Light...but really, that was probably more wishs of revenge and a hurt ego...and he has done things he didn't really care for doing just to get to his goal...and now that...I think he'd rather get out of it and just leave all this stuff behind...
