STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Decay

It can attack multiple targets, you know...

I didn't 😛

That's what I'll do then.

19 rolled.

Con thrusts his open hand forward and hits the commander and his last flunkey with an unseen force. The Grotos flies backwards and smashes head-first into a computer screen, electrocuting him, while the commander is sent prone, taking two damage as he lands hard against a computer bank, defenseless...

Can I knock him out or threaten him with sabre to surrender?

Up to you. Knocking him out would require you to bludgeon him into unconsciousness with Combat, which would continue the fight, but it is an Intimidation roll to subdue him without killing him.

I will try to intimidate him, but can I be in a position so I can strike him down should I fail?

With your lightsaber upon him, an Intimidation check (with your skill of 11) is an easy task. The blue blade flashes and comes to rest pointed at his throat, humming menacingly. He surrenders, dropping his pistol.

"Alright, Jedi," he says. "Kill me, then."

"I don't wish to kill you...and I can't kill a defenseless man...leave this place now...I got work to do", Con says...worrying about the implications of his decision. He knows it will just cause more people to die...a tragedy of war...but he can't bring himself to kill a man lying before him without defense

Will I have to blow this place up myself now? Since all my people are dead?

As Con does not possess any knowledge of sabotage (the skill for rigging things and messing up other things), he may have to find an alternative. Perhaps your hostage has knowledge of explosives? Or one of Sparnik's men did not receive an immediately lethal wound?

Okay, do I see any of the men still being alive?

After allowing the commander to run for his life (probably by retrieving your pistol and holding him at gunpoint until he flees the room), you open up your senses to seek a living mind within the building. It takes some searching... but you find one! One of Sparnik's men is still alive, having hit his head when one of the computer banks exploded.

Can I help him recover?

It takes a moment, but you can rouse him.

"Did we win?" he asks.

"We won the fight, you men fought bravely. But we still need to finish the mission. I can not sabotage this station alone...I need your help"

The man sets about gathering the explosives from those of his companions that were carrying them, then starts setting them up inside the main comm room. Once he is done, he tells you that you should get to a safe distance outside.

There are no other survivors?

Then I will leave from that place. I assume we have some pull out strategy I will abide by.

Unfortunately, no. Sparnik's men were valiant, but not invincible. This lone survivor considers himself lucky to be alive.

The strategy is run the hell away as the timer counts down! You make it out with plenty of time to spare and get to cover behind some rocks until the time when the explosives detonate. The explosion takes out the entire installation, blasting its pieces outwards and scattering them across the mountainside.

With that, you can make the long hike back to Sparnik's hidden base.

Lets do that then...

As you march back, you swear that the fiery glow of the destroyed comm/sensor station burns brighter across the mountain range than the pale moon hanging overhead.

"All fires are pale in comparison to the fires of justice," says Sparnik's man, Josiah. He hikes using a Grotos assault rifle as a crutch. "Like your energy sword. Brighter than anything."

It is not until sunrise the next day that Con Gordo and Josiah come marching home. The scouts find you first and guide back into the hidden caverns. When you enter, the civilians and guerilla fighters alike are gathered to hear what you have to say. Sparnik is with them.

"Well?" Sparnik looks at you expectantly.

"Our mission was successful. But it cost us a lot. Josiah is the only survivor of our group...but we destroyed the post. Our men fought bravely"
