Absolutely; then of course we have films like Terminator, Dark City, Highlander, Silent Running etc, etc all far superior to Serenity which as Cheese fests go is a complete Stilton of a movie tbh.

In the comics world and perhaps in pop culture, sure. But that was before the movies of both Iron Man and Thor were much more acclaimed and successful that either of Hulk's films, which were mixed bags.
But before Marvel got it's movie boom going over a decade ago, Hulk and Spider Man were likely Marvel's two most recognizable characters to non-comic book fans, because of the TV shows.

He wasn't indisposable, but taking an A-List actor who did a good job and replacing him with someone who is not even a B-List actor is not exactly a move up, and yes is a disappointment (just cant help but imagine an Avengers movie starring Norton and Downey!) Unless by some miracle Mark Ruffalo fits the role of Bruce Banner absolutely perfectly which I highly doubt.

It's not like either of them (Ruffalo or Norton) are out there crushing it with Oscar winning performances. Both of them have been nominated, the idea that Norton is a huge name, "A-list" actor and Ruffalo doesn't even crack the hypothetical "B-List," is absurd. Whatever list they are on it's probably the same one. He has done some great movies but Edward Norton is hardly a house hold name, and honestly Mark Ruffalo's performance in The Kids Are All Right is probably better then anything Norton has done since the 90s. Sure, I would have preferred Norton to come back, largely because he looks like Banner, but he has a huge ego and thinks he knows better then the director. He was hard to work with in the Hulk, fighting with the director over the vision of the film and rewriting the script himself, and that is a movie without a large ensemble of actors where no one has time to deal with his bullshit.
You guys are posting on a comic book movie forum, you are what is known as "genre" fans. Genre Fans are not indicative the general population, if they were Summer Glau would be the biggest movie star to grace the planet. That is why Scott Pilgram and Kick Ass crushed SDCC but bombed at the box office. Norton has movies that appeal to genre fans, we all love Fight Club, but don't mistake that for meaning he is a big name for the general population. That being said I don't believe for a second that any of you hadn't heard of Ruffalo before the Avengers casting.
Do they not send films directed by David Fincher or Martin Scorsese to France, or is that you just don't watch movies in general Bentley? I question the honesty of anyone in this thread who says they haven't heard of Mark Ruffalo prior to this casting.
