i was kinda bummed out, too, when he got stabbed by loki.. he was the tie that bound every stand alone movie together.. he was a big part of that universe for being a mere agent of s.h.i.e.l.d.

i do hope he comes back in one way or another..

That's his job, so long as he is serving the greater good - or what he believes it to be.

Spoiler involving the thingy that appears mid-credits.

Spoiler:

Joss Whedon talks about how he's a fan of Thanos, Warlock, and Starlin:

"He for me is the most powerful and fascinating Marvel villain. He’s the great grand daddy of the badasses and he’s in love with death and I just think that’s so cute. For me, the greatest Avengers was THE AVENGERS annual that Jim Starlin did followed by THE THING 2 in 1 that contained the death of Adam Warlock. Those were some of the most important texts and I think underrated milestones in Marvel history and Thanos is all over that, so somebody had to be in control and had to be behind Loki’s work and I was like “It’s got to be Thanos.” And they said “Okay” and I’m like “Oh my God!”,"

- Joss Whedon

So if Thanos is going to appear in the next Avenger movies or GOTG movie he's going to receive a lot of love from the director.

Joss Whedon ****in' roxx

As previous suspicion me thinks Fury's ends justified the means IMO

So he'll have starlin's work in mind with this approach to THanos Hmm...

... Thanos will be an absolute beast 😈

Just saw the movie. My favorite bits personally, were Cap and Iron man's back and forth arguments. This is EXACTLY the kind of interaction I wanted to see from them. Two sides of one coin. Downey was of course spot on as Stark, and Evans never convinced me more that he is captain america than in these scenes with Stark. I smiled like an idiot everytime these two shared a scene.

Look in the credits - Jim Starlin was credited as a consultant, along with George Perez and a few other heavyweights from the comics industry. Marvel Studios has done this on all their films; bring in a veteran brain-trust to consult with the filmmakers, about what direction they should go and give advice. It was on the first Iron Man that Mark Millar convinced Jon Favreau to start with Iron Monger as the villain instead of the Mandarin; to hold him back for sequels.

Saw it again last night, the theater was packed even on Thursday at 10:30.

I'm watching it again tonight for the third time!

Anyone thinking Surfer may show up in the sequel?

^That's one reason I want marvel studios to make a new fantastic 4 movie franchise badly.

^ Ditto. But given who popped up in the Avengers credits, I wouldn't be surprised if Soarin' Norrin showed up in A2 first.

More likely Captain Marvel or Warlock!

I've finally seen the Avengers. Good, but not great.

saw it for a second time yesterday and the theater was also packed, and little more raucous than the week before.

Some people seem to think the blue gem in Loki's Staff is one of the infinity Gems.

Yeah, the mind gem. I don't buy it though. First, I doubt Thanos would give such an artifact to Loki. Secondly and more importantly, the staff was powered by the cube and not by itself.

He can't. Fox has the movie rights to Surfer.

Wish these other studios would all just give up the movie rights back to Marvel!
