It is a big deal. Look at how black people are celebrating: It's like they seriously expect epic change all at once. It's a psychological victory but not one that has given results, yet.

Elected, no, but an actual "president," yes. We have never had a real black president before and if he gets assassinated then it will stay that way unless someone else of the african race runs and gets elected and is chosen.

Just want to say congratulations, America, for voting for CHANGE. It has been eight long years, but it's finally here.

I wouldn't celebrate like everything is going to be peachy, the only (good, imo) change we're guaranteed, is that Bush will be out of Office in January, but that was a given, Obama or Nobama.

Do you have any comment on what "change" means, when it isn't a hollow word? Surely you know what "change" means, in context. If you don't then don't offer your congratultions. "CHANGE" might mean something to you and it might mean something to folks who don't familiarize their vote with their rationale, but as soon as that change means something real, it's only a hollow slogan. I'm interested to see how many people can define [in context]Change[/in context] with why they voted as they did.

You can only learn so much from reading fun facts on Wikipedia. I don't think he's been in the spotlight long enough for anyone to get a good feel of him. I'm sure I'm not the only one you've heard say he's a stranger who came out of nowhere.

He's been in the spotlight for 2 years, given dozens of speechs, has a website, spoken in tons of interviews on air and radio, he's all over youtube. He clearly spoke on what his goals are and what he plans on doing. His personal/family life going back 20 years in well known.

What do you mean you know anything about him? How is he still a stranger to you?
