surely an appeal to diplomacy isn't the same as being against killing pirates.
My point also touched on asymmetrical warfare and international perceptions. The incident in question, as with all Somali piracy issues, had suspected links to the Islamic Courts, and there is potential for American military involvement in Somalia to be used as a form of propaganda, much like American bases in Saudi Arabia are.

Need to learn to take that in stride, America is a (the?) top player in the world right now and has been for some time. So the criticism deserved (which is the case many a time) or undeserved is going to come by the truckload.
