I don't need to have an argument for a completely subjective topic.
The question was, who do you think is overrated. Everyone I know who listens to rock thinks disturbed is godly, in a school poll they were voted #1 out of over 80 choices.
Thus, from my personal viewpoint, they're overrated.
It's really not that difficult to understand. Obvious, actually.

Yeah, but you're wrong.
Overrated is a word, you realise that, right? Its meaning in THIS context is not subjective. Overrated in this context means like, topping critics polls many times over without being entirely worthy. Being awared Best Album or Band Ever accolades without being worthy in your opinion.
Disturbed are never mentioned in any Best Of lists, they've never been mentioned with Best Album of All Time, you just obviously know people with shit taste.
They're not overrated by any means. People YOU know loving them doesn't make that band overrated in the meaning that everyone with sense has taken it to mean, as it always does.

Name a planet you think is smaller than Earth. Jupiter? Every thread on here requires an answer during which, you may- may- exercise some type of thinking. It's not exclusive to this thread.

That means you go to a school full of idiots, which I must say is surprising from your demonstrated abilities. As I said earlier, if there's no attempt to stick to a workable concept of the term overrated, it might as well be a thread where we name bands our friends like but we don't.
Being overrated isn't completely subjective- that's a complete misunderstanding. It's only subjective in your estimation of the band. There has to be a factual level of 'rating' against which you are measuring that opinion.
'Liked in my school' is a hurdle that Steven Hawking could bunnyhop.
I sincerely doubt that every single person rock fan you know thinks Disturbed are 'godly'. There's a problem with either that concept or that location.
I wonder, Bardock, would you have still said all that if you had read why both others and myself had pointed out what the problem is?

Thank you, Bardock. It's nice to see that someone has the a thinking ability over the age of six. 🙂
My youngest nephew thinks Halo has a great story too, so you have a lot in common with him.
You're wrong, what's the big deal? Criteria of the thread is against you, deal with it. You think Disturbed are overrated cos you know quite a few people who like them and you don't. That's not overrating.

I'm not trying to be al rebellious, I am sure you have some point in what you say, I am just saying I don't quite get it. I mean, if you just think they are not overrated, fair enough, but you seem to be getting at something else (and VVD probably, too), and I don't think you explained that well enough.

[edit] I do actually agree, that solely going by your school is a bit of a limited group to go by, if that's jsut it , fair enough, but what's the problem with the word "rated"? I mean, his friends do "rate" it, and amongst them they are probably "overrated", of course it is silly to go only by your school friends. Though, to be fair, you need to go by something, to evaluate the amount of "rating" amongst the general populace. Unless you just consider professional critics as rate-capable, which I guess is a possible system, but not the intention of this thread I would assume.

Go and find me any number of threads, unbiased forums, polls, rating systems, Best Of or Best Album etc lists.
Show me how many Disturbed are in Vs The Beatles, Bob Dylan, U2 etc.
They're not overrated because they are not a band that are globally and universally considered to be the best at anything.
They have a fanbase that we, as non-fans, do not get. That doesn't make them overrated. It takes more than that.

I agree with that, I was just confused by:

So? Lots of people liking a band and you not liking them doesn't make a band overrated.RATED, nor appreciated.

But I think if there if there is a huge fanbase, which their music doesn't deserve that you can talk about them being overrated.
