So ya, I decided to join the Army, something I have always wanted to do but never had the opportunity until now. I have met with a recruiter several times. In fact I am going to the MEP center Wednesday for my physical and to be sworn in. My MOS is Internment/Resettlement Specialist 31E. The only bad thing is they want to ship me to Missouri for basic training on February 5th, which sucks because not only will I miss my son's 3rd birthday but I will miss my brother's wedding 🙁
My recruiter said he is going to try to get my ship date pushed to where I want it but I have a feeling it wont happen. Anyways I just wanted to let you all know I will be leaving KMC for a while. I will miss you all. 🙁
Take care Billie. You're awesome!

So who's going to be taking care of the children?

I leave in march for my own basic training (Navy)

Different branches or not the military needs to stick together so good luck tank

Have fun killing people for money.

🤨

Good luck, GE. You'll be missed whimper

What's the shifty eyed purple bloke about?

Have we got different ideas on what people do in the army, or something?

Yes, I think that's it.

Strange.

What is it that you think they do?

Well, they do kill people, you're correct about that. And they're paid. But I don't think they kill for money. I mean, it sounds like they're mercenaries. They kill because it's necessary. They join the army to demonstrate the love and the loyalty (to say the least) they feel for their country.

Bit of an idealistic and generalised view.

alright, this is a good luck thread for a new soldier, not a place to look down upon her because of her choice....if you want to discuss this you really should try making a post in general discussion

Nah, logic, pretty much.

Because I'm guessing there are a lot of other jobs in which you earn pretty much the same as an average soldier and they don't involve shooting people.

Unless you like shooting people. awepedo

I'm sorry, where have I looked down upon anyone? I've cited the literal definition of what being a soldier can and does entail. I have not tried to assume knowledge of any reason for such a choice - as one other has done.

Yeah, though, becoming a soldier is quite possibly the easiest profession to get into...ever.

Also, would they do it if they weren't getting paid? Probably not. Even then, laying your life on the line and leaving children parentless because you ''love your country'' - it all seems rather foolish to me. What about all the Iraqi and Afghans soldiers that love their countries, too?

Yeah, that's true.

Well no, of course they wouldn't join if not paid, because then how'd they survive?

Why don't we just ask DeathReaper why he joined the Navy? aweherm

The truthful answer would probably be: a lack of intelligence and a lack of options.

lack of options yes, lack of intelligence? not so much..now you're directly looking down on me...hmm

May I ask why exactly did you join the Navy?

probably is how I phrased it. Please, don't hesitate to prove me wrong.

of course you may, I joined as a master at arms (MP basically) so I can get some good experience under my belt as well as some college classes so I can finish strong in the law enforcement department. Once i leave the navy I plan on becoming a police officer with that tactical training the navy gives...

I may go SWAT or something else from there.

That is why i joined, the pays not great and I can get shot at...and I know people dont always see eye to eye with the cops (I wouldnt either if they took away my bong and threw me in jail)

Nevertheless, its better than sitting at home typing away at an office and then being pissed off at the world all day

So having the authority to control others is what you wish to have? Despite the fact that you may not agree with what you're enforcing?
