- Is it possible to get any kind of education as a marine? if yes, what kinds?
well it depends some areas in the country like military members and will hire you on the spot, but just as easily you can be rejected cause ppl feel you have no real education and aren't in favor of the war. (of course they will never tell you that because you can sue.. ) writing a resume can be fairly difficult depending on your military jobs skills. if you are an infantry marine or a weapons expert well that well tend to limit your job opportunity..
i personally worked with howitzer cannons as an operator and mechanic. I later moved armory and worked with hand held weapons, later moved to an office job with officers doing paper work and record keeping shipping of weapons...i Also became an Nco which is civilian talk for supervisor and moved to another job of supplying marines with housing, flight plans pick up... health and hazard safety and warehousing keeping if you become creative in your description skill of your skills it should be fairly easy to find a job depending on the job market.(which is not that good right now)
Drill instructors can be really big DI#KS and be a danger to you and fellow recruits. if they have no discipline.. there job is to torture you within a reasonable level and destroy your sense of self, to make it possible for ppl to follow orders without question. they are not allowed to physically assault you but i and others have been assaulted by them. i was choked others have been kick, and another recruit was temporarly blind by being hit with the mussle of a rifle in the temple..
there are rules and cards that they have to follow throughout the day with our punishments some disregard the cards and procedures.. i was physically exercised for 3 hours with limited break time.. the purpose was to break me in front of the other recruits because i was physically fit. they wanted to make an example and ended up getting a nose bleed and almost passed out but a major happen to walk by and punished them for what had been done...
yes.. you can get an education and possibly do your four years within four yrs but it is really difficult to do. there is a lot of travel between training exercise and going to iraq or afghanistan. most marines dont start college courses till there last two yrs in the service. depending on how your superior may view on education. some will allow you to go through school during working hours almost as if you were never in the service and you are just a college student...
but the average look on education in the service is you are a warrior not a student get your education on your own time sadly that is the majority look on education..
you have to kiss a lot of ass in order to accomplish yur goals in the service..
