1 AT AT vs 1 Canderous assault tank head on attack Canderous wins
It has duall mass driver cannons on each side (they bypass shields ) and a missle launcher in the center
and about AT, ATs being weak theyre not .It has a phsycilogical offence to it a normal soldier wouldve died in the cockpit , while jedi trainee luke got out grapped an extension gun and small explosive , went all the way up to its under side and threw it in its engine room ,yes it has a poor design. yet i dont think they had extension guns in mind of protection against .

They are heavily armored, and extremely difficult to take down.
They are deployed with ground forces such as AT-STs and infantry due to their large slow moving sizes. They are one part of a ground force group.
Also, Luke wasn't even close to being Jedi trained by the time he met up with the AT-ATs. He received a tiny tiny portion of instruction from Obi-Wan..and then Obi died.

🤨
A mass driver is just a really big gun or even a normal sized one come to think of it.

ATATs have a terrible design with many different ways to exploit. Any one remotely competent (like 95.3% of Starfleet officers) would just blast one of the feet and be done with it. Or they could move slightly to the side and watch the ATAT fall over trying to make a turn.

This response is full of lulz.
Hell, a starfleet officer approaching from behind with just a phaser pistol has enough vaporization power to take an AT-AT out.
See, I understand how it would be far more useful with the support like dadudemon described but it still has many disadvantages.
I've really never been one for psychological warfare unless it came directly from how effective you are, which is why I found the TNG borg to be an extremely effective villain.

AT-AT's dont fall over trying to make a turn , and luke was in other terms a super soldier. he didnt have to be a jedi to do what he did .he had a very high mid chlorian count so like anakin is able to preform amazing feats with no training .learn more about SW before you start calling their heavy weapons crap.

I was joking about how god awful a walking tank design is.

They don't have to do what Luke did to take them down. Unlike him they have handweapons that can easily bore through meters of solid rock. Against that (or any moron with a rocket launcher) an AT-AT can be taken out of commission in seconds.
Just because Luke took the most insanely roundabout way of destroying one doesn't mean that ST characters would have to do the same thing when there are dozens of design flaws to exploit.

watch the movie again, they have way more than rockets and they dont even scratch them until the speeders use the tow cables
Did they fire at the joints of the legs? Did they use weapons that are the equivalent of long range tunnel boring machines? Did they try boring massive trenches? Did they try destroying the ground right beneath the AT-AT's next step?
Well let's see.
Wookiepedia claims:
Quadrupedal (I knew this but it's nice to have the "damn info" confirmed for me, this is a strike against it as each leg becomes a severe weak point)
They lack 360 degree firing range (obvious weakness)
The neck is vulnerable to light blaster fire (so a phaser rifle could take out the main weapon with one shot)
The underside is lightly armored (which is just stupid if you're 22 meters tall)
During the Battle of Hoth several were destroyed by poor weather (ie they suck as weapons)
The movies show them mis-step when shot in the leg (which confirms that the legs are an obvious weak point)
So now that I've "looked up the damn info" I would say that not only is it amazing that anyone was stupid enough to design one but the Rebels had to be functionally brain dead to have trouble harming them.
im not saying that theyre superweapons , im saying your not giving them enough credit your giving them 0.1 percent they deserve atleast 0.2 percent . theyre mostly meant to suppress ground forces and resist artillery and high aimed weapons ,hence the heavy armor on the top,and to defend the troops and vehicles stored inside

The Borg were a total failure in every episode I saw.
Voyager and her crew may have outmaneuvered the Borg on several occasions, but in every single circumstance there was extenuating circumstances.
Originally posted by MorgromirI'm okay with a .2 percent chance. AT-AT's were designed with Star Wars technology in mind. Trek has technological options that the Rebels did not have. Handheld weapons capable of blowing up buildings would be just one. Transporting a photon grenade inside the AT-AT would be another. Tractoring the walker off its feet would be still another.
