It just seems to me that really the bulk of the negativity in reviews come from how much of a departure this is from the other Halloween movies. The mainstream critics reviews seem to just judge it based on things you really need to give slasher movies a pass on (motivations in side characters, brief lack of logic, etc)
I haven't been convinced not to see this by all the negativity, I just bought my tickets for tonight. As I've said before, I actually consider the new approach as a good thing. I'll be going into it looking at it as a horror movie, not a halloween movie.

Laurie turning bad, and becomes a killer like Myers...Why was it not good Backfire? spoilers if needed.
Incoherent, nearly no plot at all, just a series of murders with little connecting them.
Plus there was
Spoiler:
this subplot where Myers kept seeing his dead mother as a ghost-type-thing and then eventually Laurie started seeing her too, and it was just really really stupid

Personaly I thought the film was great.
I loved the imagery used throughout the film.
Some solid killings.Zombie takes some big risk with the film, but I personaly thought it was damn good.
Risk is what I want, so that's good. I watched the leaked trailer again today to psyche myself up for seeing it tonight!
Just saw it. I have really mixed feelings about this movie so I will sort it all out.
Good:
The movie had some pretty good kills and gore. I just love it when I see a movie and I hear the people behind me go " Now this is just too much, this is ****ed up..."
The hospital scene at the beggining was also GREAT. I loved every bit of that scene, it was the perfect mix of Zombie's gory style with the classic Halloween stalking of the original series.
Bad:
The plot and characters are all a serious departure from the Halloween series. Iconic horror characters are just slapped in the face with Rob Zombie's pathetic excuse for a script.
The one that stands out the most is Dr. Loomis who early in the film says something that should NEVER! I repeat NEVER come out of Loomis's mouth "Michael Myers is ****ing dead!" Loomis is shown in this movie as a rich greedy bastard who only cares for himself,
Spoiler:Dr. Sam Loomis is depicted previously as paranoid and never believes that Myers can die. And he never acts in a selfish manner, always acting to protect the public good. This is a serious departure for one of Halloween's most important characters.
Until his ****in pathetic excuse for a "remdemption" at the end, as if we even care or sympathize with his character anymore.
Spoiler:I will personally hunt down Rob Zombie myself. Let the abomination end here, please!
following the killing spree of Laurie Strode
(This is coming from somebody who enjoy the remake quite a bit.)
Saw the movie earlier today and loved it, thought it was great. Went in expecting a great movie, but I found it to be better than the original. I know people are going to try to kill me for that statement but that's how I feel. Though now, I feel that Zombie's vision is completed and they should bring in someone new for H3.
Spoiler:
Also, I liked that Michael had a "death" they could work from for H3, even if he's supposed to be human. And I also liked that Michael was downright vicious with every kill. He made sure they were dead. The visions storyline worked out better than I thought, and overall I found the acting to be good. This was pretty much Scout's movie, and she made the Laurie Strode role her own, which was a pleasure to see.
I'll most likely end up going to see this again next week, I enjoyed it a hell of a lot, and it was a true thrill ride.
lol your like...the only person here who seems to have thought it was good
Ok i just read the ending on wikipedia, and if Michael is more human then
Spoiler:
he is dead after this: Michael is shot twice by Sheriff Brackett and falls onto the spikes of some farming equipment. Apparently released of the visions, Laurie walks over and tells Michael she loves him, then she stabs him repeatedly in the chest and finally in the face. And then there's this with Laurie: The shed door opens and Laurie walks out, wearing Michael's mask. As she pulls the mask off, Laurie transitions to isolation in a psychiatric ward, grinning as a vision of Deborah dressed in white stands with a white horse at the end of her room.
So yeah Zombie pretty much f*cked it all up
