Thought it was pretty good. I'm not too familiar with the original franchise so I dont know anything about character changes, but I like Rob Zombie movies a lot and this fit in well with Devil's Rejects.
I think that's a problem with a lot of hardcore Halloween fans.
I can't really speak for the majority, but on most forums I have vistited they mainly speak of how he deystroyed the story and raped the original characters.
But to me as iconic as Loomis or Laurie are to the franchise,I think that's something that never should have been realized.
I think Zombie keeps the focus deservingly on Myers for the dominant part of the film.
For me I always thought characters like Loomis were okay but I was always more fascinated with Michael Myers than I was with the other characters,so the changes didn't bother me that much.
If anything I thought it was cool that we got to see a deeper side to Michael in these two films.

He raped Michael pretty hard this time too.

He didn't rape Myers. If anything I feel like he intensified the character.
That's how I feel.
It seemed to me he changed Michael from this very phantom like presence with a blank slate into a Pagan Frankenstein. Perverting the holy trinity and living for one purpose.
That might sound like a weird description, but that's how I saw it.

A.K.A raping the character. Myers wasnt even tactical at all or anything here. They even compared him to a caveman within the movie. The old Myers could never draw such a comparison. As he usually isolates his victims and kills them in a quick an effective manner. While it was cool to see some ultra violence, it just isnt Michael's style and I didnt feel like I was watching Halloween when he was doing it. Believe me, I loved the kills, I think its one of the only redeeming factors of the film. But the repeated stabbing and yelling isnt like Michael Myers at all. The most we've ever heard from him is some grunts and hard breathing until this.
Michael Myers is SUPPOSED to be mysterious and sort of like a presence rather than a barbaric human. He is even credited as "The Shape" in the original. When I say raping a character, I mean changing the character for better or for worse.
Zombie should've done the TCM remake instead the Halloween remake. Even though BackFire and some other may disagree (Dont think they could possibly be pleased by TCM remake no matter who did it. lol 😛 )

Meh, he didn't rape the character. It's not like Michael hasn't been made more vicious in previous movies, Zombie just amped it up that much more this go around. I thought it was great, and this movie reaffirmed my belief that Mane is the BEST Michael Myers to date.
I dont recall him ever being more vicious than usual in any other movies (Zombie aside.) Care to cite some films?
I also stated that I used the word rape for change. Perhaps I should have used different wording. I view it as character rape since I didn't particulary care for the change aside from the fact that the gore and violence that resulted was fun to watch.
No other character compares to the change Loomis experienced this time around. Why'd they even keep Loomis alive if they were just gonna make him have a completely different personality from the Loomis we all know and possibly love.
