he's been in the mindset to kill before. we haven't seen a limit to his powers, though. he's been so casual when he's wanted to put people down seriously that we haven't actually seen just how much he can bring to a fight.

Ok i am just trying to get the threads premise down......Both amp to thier respective comic appearences?.....and surfer cannot exploit manipulate energy or matter...to exploit supes weakness to kryptonite and red sunlight?......Surfer can still drain supes energy stores?(not saying it will work)
Surfer wins the majority.......good fight...and i see supes pulling some wins.....but a solid majority is going to be surfers i. m. o.......I can see a H2H fight going to supes easy...but i dont see supes winning this for a majority with all the options still left for the surfer.

We have seen a cap on supermans strength numerous of time along with a cap on his speed.
If he didnt have a cap on his strength he would have soloed every moon pushing feat that he was put in.
If he didnt have a cap on his strength he would have soloed that earth moving feat instead of having a GL assist him.
If he didnt have a cap on his strength it wouldnt have taken him and the jla to fight Despero, to fight titus, and to fight konvikt.
Speed, I have plenty of instances regarding this but I'm just going to use one. If he's always fast enough, why during the imperex saga when he heard Louis screaming for help during the time her father was fighting one of the imperex clones (alongside black lightning and Supergirl), he flew off during the battle and made it there extremely late which resulted in Louis father getting nuked.
How about this one, while the jla was fighting one of the imperex probes in space and wonder woman was going for the killing blow AND HE SEEN THIS, why wasnt he fast enough, when he was screaming to her not to do it, from preventing her almost getting killed?
Why didnt he get there on time when aquaman got nuked by one of the probes?
